When Bonnie Lockhart had a little downtime on Days of our Lives, her portrayer, Judi Evans, shot a role in the romantic comedy film Love Is On The Air, which is streaming now on Pure Flix.

The film’s story tells the tale of Adam Smasher (Jason London, Dazed and Confused), a radio ‘shock jock,’ who finds himself at an impasse after his career hits a big snag. After his car breaks down, Adam is stranded in the middle of nowhere and he encounters Eve Cassidy (Lauren Harper, Malibu Dan the Family Man). Watch for a relationship to spark between the two as Adam tries to rebuild his image.
“I play [Eve’s] mother, Miriam, who’s wise and sage,” Evans tells Soap Hub. “I love roles like this.” The actress says there’s also humor in the script, which she found appealing. “Humor’s always fun to play,” Evans adds.
Being Brave
Evans shot part of her scenes on a farm. While Miriam didn’t have to get up on a horse, Evans was invited to saddle up. However, as fans of the actress know, she was involved in a horseback riding accident back in 2020.
“That was the first time I’d gotten on a horse since my accident,” Evans confides. While she said the horse was perfectly fine to ride, she was still terrified about getting back in the saddle. “It’s still [a] painful [memory],” she says. “But I felt I had to do it and be brave.”

Evans suggests that horses — like people — are all different. “I just trotted around a few times,” she says. “The horse was great. Some horses fit you like a glove and others [not so much]. But I could tell this was a really good horse.”

The film also stars John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard; Smallville) as Garrett and Lindsay Hartley (ex-Ariana, DAYS; ex-Theresa, Passions) as Pinky. Alas, Evans says she didn’t share scenes with either of them but that hasn’t dampened her enthusiasm for the movie.
“The movie is sweet and uplifting,” the actress says. She feels that such movies give hope to viewers who are looking for fulfillment in real-life. “We always want to see a happy ending. We have to have them in TV and in movies so we know what they’ll look like in real-life!”
