Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any of your favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the not-too-far-off future?

The Young and the Restless C&G News

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring, or day player roles? Are any well-remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of July 11, 2022

Abby Newman Chancellor’s been missing in action for a while, but she’ll be back in Genoa City soon. Actress Melissa Ordway reports that she’s on set taping scenes at the soap’s CBS studios, after having tested positive for Covid following a publicity trip to Monaco.

Ordway shared the good news via Instagram along with a behind-the-scenes photo with her TV hubby, Conner Floyd (Chance). “Abby’s back,” she posted. “After Monte Carlo and then quarantine it feels so good to be back in Genoa City!”

And, in a bit of mystery, the show is casting the role of Aiden, who will be recurring. The part is under-five-lines and principal — two episodes as of now; there will be more. Aiden is 13 years old, a dynamic teen with blond or light brown hair. Athletic, whip-smart, and perceptive, he faces now the growing angst and confusion of adolescence, which is beginning to give him an edge. He’s learning to hide his sensitivity behind a dry, clever wit. Just who might this lad have ties to in Genoa City? Stay tuned!

The Young and the Restless History

Y&R made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) heart to the complicated love story of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Y&R knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more.
