Who’s coming and who’s going from the soap opera casts of The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless?
Soap Opera Casting For The Week of August 28, 2023
Here’s a list of the top exit and entrance news from all four daytime dramas. Find out if any of your favorite performers from yesteryear are returning to the shows you follow, or if any new actors or actresses have been cast in contract, recurring, or day-player roles.
Days of our Lives
Film and television legend Dick Van Dyke makes his Days of our Lives debut as a new mystery man in Salem on Friday, September 1. The character will cross paths with Deidre Hall’s Marlena Evans Black and Mary Beth Evans’ Kayla Johnson at Salem University Hospital.
After a five-year absence, Jen Lilley returns to town as Theresa Donovan on Monday, August 30. Her character will be part of a new story arc that kicks off with the soap’s goodbye to Victor Kiriakis. Lilley last aired as Theresa in 2018.
Zach Tinker is also back on the scene as Sonny Kiriakis for the show’s farewell to Victor. Tinker exited the soap opera last March.
Louise Sorel’s return as Vivian Alamain has also been confirmed. The actress, who created the iconic character in 1992, will be attending Victor’s funeral. Sorel last aired in the role in 2018.
Darren Richardson pops back in as Elliot Roth, the attorney representing Von Leuschner Trust. He’ll air on Wednesday, August 30 in scenes with Peter Porte’s Dimitri Von Leuschner and Greg Rikaart’s Leo Stark.
Finley Rose Slater makes another appearance as Rachel Black on Wednesday, August 30. She’ll interact with Brandon Barash’s Stefan DiMera.
General Hospital
Walt Willey brings his All My Children character, Jackson Montgomery, back to General Hospital this week. The attorney is set to appear in courtroom scenes involving Deception and intellectual property theft claims made against it.
The legal drama will also feature Tim Thunderhorse Halpin as Judge Kerr, who’s presiding over the case. Also, Broadway veteran Carly Hughes will be playing Elise, Deception’s attorney.
Stephen A. Smith makes another appearance on the soap opera as Brick on Tuesday, August 29. Look for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his trusted security adviser to confer on an important matter.
Michael Bell is playing Dr. Brooks. The psychiatrist will meet with Josh Kelly’s Cody Bell, as he plots to get himself committed to Ferncliff.
Dedan Donovan has been cast as Gabe. The character will share scenes with Evan Hofer’s Dex Heller.
On the exit front, farewell to Ella Lentini. Her run as Betty Rutherford, Avery’s duplicitous nanny, appears to have come to an end.
The Young and the Restless
Over at The Young and the Restless, Mattilyn Rochester Kravitz makes her daytime debut on the soap opera as Dr. George. The character is a specialist, whom Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) visit regarding concerns that their daughter, Aria, might have hearing issues.
