Soap Opera Comings and Goings: A Welcome Return And Familiar Faces

Who’s coming and who’s going from the casts of The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), Days of our Lives (Days), General Hospital (GH), and The Young and the Restless (YR)?

Soap Opera Casting For The Week of August 2, 2021

Here’s a list of the top exit and entrance news from all four daytime dramas. Find out if any of your favorite performers from yesteryear are returning to the shows you follow, or if any new actors or actresses have been cast in contract, recurring, or day player roles.

General Hospital

Great news for General Hospital Maxie Jones fans and the actress who portrays her. After undergoing brain surgery in June and being temporarily written off the soap, Kirsten Storms is back on set filming, as of July 30. No word yet on her first airdate back.

Inga Cadranel returns to GH as Harmony Miller, Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) mother, this coming week. Cadranel hasn’t aired in over a year, dating back to the soap’s pre-COVID-19 shutdown.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Naomi Matsuda makes her The Bold and the Beautiful debut as Li Finnegan, Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) mother, on Monday, August 2. The actress previously portrayed Paul’s (Christopher Sean) mother, Tori, on Days of our Lives in 2015.

Petri Hawkins Byrd, best known as the bailiff on Judge Judy, turns up as “the wedding officiant” at Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn’s nuptials, beginning on Friday, August 5.

Also, real-life model Sierra Paxton returns as Forrester Creations’ model, Maxie, on Monday, August 2, while Avalon and Collette Gray pop in as Kelly Spencer, Steffy and Liam’s (Scott Clifton) daughter, on Thursday, August 5.

Days of our Lives

On the Days of our Lives front, rumors abound that Kyle Lowder will be reprising his role as Rex Brady, and he started them. Lowder shared a photo of himself on Instagram sitting in a hair and makeup room that looked like the one at the DAYS studio, along with the caption: “Back to work.”

Meanwhile, Freddie Smith squashed any hope DAYS fans might have for a Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny return to Salem. On the YouTube podcast Smith co-hosts with his wife, The Freddie and Alyssa Show, he announced that if and when the powers-that-be at DAYS was to call with an offer, he “would not go back.”

The Young and the Restless

Last, but not least, John McCook crosses over to The Young and the Restless as B&B’s Eric Forrester on Tuesday, August 3. He’ll share scenes with Michelle Stafford’s Phyllis. Also included in the scenes will be Italian Cristina Serafini, who returns as Summer’s boss, Angelina Marchetti. Please note that soap opera air dates may be subject to change.
