Sally and Tara Need To Channel Phyllis To Win on Young and the Restless

 Comments

Phyllis Summers has got both Tara Locke and Sally Spectra on the run thanks to staying two steps ahead of the women and using technology on The Young and the Restless. We’re wondering, though, if the mother of Kyle Abbott’s son and Summer Newman’s red-haired adversary need to start employing Phyllis’s methods to counter her attacks?

Phyllis Summers Has The Upperhand on The Young and the Restless

Recently on The Young and the Restless, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) “borrowed” Sally’s (Courtney Hope) phone to send Tara (Elizabeth Leiner) a text message telling her that “Phyllis has figured it out,” which prompted Tara to hightail over to the Grand Phoenix. There, Phyllis recorded the two women having an intense meeting in the elevator. She promptly sent the video to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) so that he’d wise up (again) to Sally.

Why is Phyllis so determined to butt into Sally’s life? She knows in her gut that Tara and Sally both conspired to run her daughter Summer out of town. (Granted, she landed a dream job in Italy in the process!) Phyllis thinks she can handle these two, and so far, she’s doing an excellent job of it. However, we believe that Tara and Sally could team up further, do some research, and expose Phyllis before she harms them further.

How Tara Locke And Sally Spectra Can Turn The Tables On Phyllis

All Tara and Sally have to do is a web search to find out about Phyllis’s sordid past. As veteran fans of The Young and the Restless recall, she lost custody of her son Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) after lying about his paternity. She had claimed that Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) was the boy’s father but that wasn’t true.

After Phyllis realized that Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) was always going to be in her way, even though Chris was set to wed Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), she rented a car and ran the engaged duo over, hoping to eliminate them for good.

This particular heinous act stayed secret for years. Phyllis got off on a technicality, but everyone in Genoa City knows she was brought into court over the matter. Phyllis is eager to throw Tara and Sally’s current schemes in their faces, so why don’t they dig up Phyllis’s dark past and throw that in hers?

Also, how does Tara going after an engaged Kyle (Michael Mealor) differ from Summer’s pursuit of Kyle when he was still wed to Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) on The Young and the Restless? It’s great that Phyllis is so protective of her daughter, but as Kyle pointed out, it was Summer’s decision to leave him and leave Genoa City. Tara can’t keep Kyle and Summer (Hunter King) apart forever without Kyle going along with it.

Tara and Phyllis wouldn’t even need to crack open their laptops to go digging into Phyllis’s past. Tara could quiz Jack about Phyllis’s history. Sally could ask Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) and Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) for the scoop on Phyllis. (Phyllis did have Michael kidnapped once, after all.) For a more unfiltered version, both could look up Christine and get her opinion on the Grand Phoenix Hotel owner. Chris is hardly a gossip, but she’s not going to protect the person who tried to kill her and Paul and never had to go to jail for her efforts.

Phyllis did serve time in jail for blackmailing Brad Carlton (Don Diamont). As far as we know, Sally and Tara have never done prison time (though Sally came close to being behind bars on The Bold and the Beautiful). Why aren’t these women subscribing to the theory that the best defense is a strong offense? Soaps are all about confrontations. “You did this!” is often followed by “Oh, yeah? Well, you did this!” Phyllis is playing Tara and Sally, but perhaps it’s time they started fighting back!

Stay tuned to see what happens. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Genoa City, check out all the latest that’s been posted on Y&R spoilers.
