Soap Opera Casting For The Week of July 26, 2021
Here’s a list of the top exit and entrance news from all four daytime dramas. Find out if any of your favorite performers from yesteryear are returning to the shows you follow, or if any new actors or actresses have been cast in contract, recurring, or day player roles.
Days of our Lives
Days of our Lives has nabbed another sitcom star. Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons) has been cast as Olivia Price, Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) mother. The two actresses previously worked together on the primetime hit, 227. Gibbs begins airing in mid-August.
AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys is also heading to DAYS in a small role. He’s set to play a driver on the soap opera. McLean shot his scenes, last week, so he won’t be airing for several weeks.
The soap has recast and aged Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen DiMera’s (Stacy Haiduk) former toddler daughter, Rachel. Finley Rose Slater has taken over the role and will begin airing in October.
General Hospital
On the General Hospital front, actress Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) has temporarily exited the soap opera. The actress underwent brain surgery in June, which dictated the storyline move. Expect Maxie to remain out of town, while Storms recovers at home.
David Leeshock wrapped up his two-day stint as David Hopkins. The character was the helicopter pilot, who Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) questioned about Peter (Wes Ramsey) in New York City.
Soap Opera Comings & Goings: The Young and the Restless
Sean Carrigan appears to be staying put as The Young and the Restless’ Ben “Stitch” Rayburn. Originally back for a limited run, his character has accepted a new job in Genoa City and is looking for a place to live. Carrigan originally played Ben from 2013 to 2017.
There’s another CBS crossover on the horizon. John McCook, who portrays The Bold and the Beautiful patriarch, Eric Forrester, will be turning up in Genoa City again in early August.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Over at The Bold and the Beautiful, Ted King makes his debut as Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) father, Jack Finnigan, on Friday, July 30. The daytime vet has played Lorenzo and Luis Alcazar on General Hospital, Tomas Delgado on One Life to Live, and Danny Roberts on Loving and The City.
Real-life model Jaida King makes another appearance as a Forrester Creations model. Her character, Carmen, airs on Friday, July 30.
