When Rey Rosales and Sharon Rosales first got together on The Young and the Restless, things were hot and secretive because he was married. However, once their love wasn’t forbidden, things between Rey and Sharon cooled off. Now, after a year of marriage, it’s clear Rey isn’t thrilled with where he is on Sharon’s priority list.
It’s evident that the thrill is gone for Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon (Sharon Case). Instead, she’s recently spent more time and effort on celebrating her ex-husband, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), with their kids. As for Rey, he’s tried unsuccessfully to get her attention.
When their love was forbidden because of Rey’s marriage to Mia Rosales (Noemi González), everything felt fun and dangerous for him and Sharon. However, they lost the spark once Mia finally left town with his own brother, Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela). Sure, Rey stayed with Sharon through her successful breast cancer treatment, but they don’t seem like a ‘forever’ couple.
Rey’s made it clear that he wants more of Sharon’s time and attention. However, Sharon is so busy pouring coffee and handing out her sage advice to her children and the residents of Genoa City that she rarely has much time left over for her husband.
It’s also clear that Rey is starting to realize that being a stepfather to Sharon’s kids isn’t quite enough. In a recent Young and the Restless episode, he looked on jealously as Noah (Rory Gibson), Sharon, and Nick remembered Noah’s early artwork. Unfortunately, Rey doesn’t have those types of memories with Sharon’s children, and he has none of his own.
Although Nick served as Rey’s best man, it seems like Rey is losing his patience with Nick’s prominent place in Sharon’s life. Even when Rey tried to have a spontaneous date with Sharon, people continually interrupted their conversation, once again showing Rey that he doesn’t rate at the top of her list of priorities.
Now that he’s feeling disgruntled, we can’t help but notice that Rey lights up when Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) shows up. Even though it doesn’t make sense, he seems to have forgiven her for attempting to poison him to frame Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). We predict Rey and Sharon are headed for a significant blow-up soon, and who knows where that will lead? One or both of them will likely have an affair, or they’ll break up. Rey deserves more, and frankly, so does Sharon.
