There’s no word yet on how it might affect Amanda’s screen-time on The Young and the Restless, but her portrayer, Mishael Morgan, recently underwent a medical procedure that might have her resembling the character of Patch (Stephen Nichols) on Days of our Lives!
“So this happened!” Morgan shared on Instagram. “Emergency eye surgery not fun; but saving my vision, rocking a new sexy pirate look and one crazy story for the books… pretty fun! #blessedandgrateful #outofcommission #piratelife.”
The actress’s co-stars and daytime pals posted messages of well-wishes to their recovering co-star. “Wishing you the speediest recovery,” wrote Brytni Sarpy, whose character, Elena, is currently Morgan’s onscreen rival.
Christian Jules LeBlanc (Michael) went for humor by posting: “YAY!!!! PIRATE STORYLINES ARE THE BEST!!! ❤️❤️❤️.”
“Oh no!!! Get well soon!!!” shared Melissa Ordway (Abby). while another YR co-star Lauralee Bell (Christine) chose to share her thoughts with emoticons: “❤️😘.”
“What?!? Sending you healing energy!! 💗,” posted Tamara Braun (Ava, DAYS). One of Morgan’s followers deduced what exactly her condition was that necessitated the surgery. “Detached retina?” queried @taralouwebb. Morgan confirmed the online “diagnosis” by responding: “@taralouwebb you got it! Lol.”
Morgan made the YR scene in 2013 as Hilary Curtis, a woman determined to get even with Neil (Kristoff St. John) as Hilary believed he played a role in the death of her mother Rose. A lot’s happened since then! Hilary passed away after being in a horrific car accident caused by Lily’s (Christel Khalil) negligence. She went to jail and Hilary went to that great soap in the sky after sharing a romantic reunion with Devon (Bryton James) on her deathbed.
But Morgan wasn’t done with YR. She returned the following year as Amanda Sinclair, a lawyer, who came to Genoa City, handling a case that challenged Devon’s rights to his late grandmother, Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) estate. Devon was stunned to see the uncanny resemblance between Amanda and Hilary.
A year later, the show confirmed what YR fans had suspected from the beginning — Hilary and Amanda were twins, separated at birth. Amanda was recently reunited with her birth mother, Naya (Ptosha Storey).
