Throughout soap opera history, there have been many beautiful deathbed scenes, including the one featuring Hilary Curtis Hamilton on The Young and the Restless. Here’s a look back at the life of Devon’s late wife, played by Daytime Emmy-nominated star Mishael Morgan.
A Rose By Any Other Name
Hilary Curtis made the scene as Cane’s assistant but she had a secret agenda – drive a wedge between Cane and his wife Lily. The reason? Hilary (born Ann Turner) was the daughter of Rose Turner, Neil’s drinking pal, who died after drinking too much.
Neil had placed a “do not disturb” sign on Rose’s door, preventing anyone from finding her. Hilary spread filth about the Winters family on GC Buzz to get revenge, lashing out in pain.
Blinded By Love
Feeling badly for Hilary, Neil helped her get a job at Jabot. That began her friendship with Jack Abbott, who asked Hilary to infiltrate Newman-Chancellor Industries! Meanwhile, Hilary fell for Neil’s son Devon but ended up marrying Neil.
After Neil was blinded, Hilary felt she couldn’t leave him even though she truly loved Devon. Neil got his sight back and (yikes!) the first thing he saw was Hilary and Devon making love! Neil announced he knew of the affair just before a plane they all were traveling in crashed.
Liar, Liar
After everyone is rescued from the crash, Hilary, who really loves Devon and cares for Neil, lies that she only did what she did in order to get revenge for her mom’s passing. Hilary seduces Winston, the assistant district attorney, who was in charge of prosecuting Neil for hitting Christine with his car. Her machinations kept Neil out of jail.

The Honeymoon Is Over
Hilary and Devon wed. While on their honeymoon, she went hiking at the top of a hill and ran into Neil. Hilary fell off a cliff, and Neil whisked her away to a secluded shack where she recovered with help from Dr. Neville. When she woke up, Hilary had amnesia. She didn’t remember marrying Devon! Hilary got her memory back and became ambitious, blackmailing her way into key positions.
Divorce, American Style
Devon and Hilary divorced. They reconciled as he helped her through an illness. Next, Devon bought GC Buzz, hiring Hilary to host it, hoping to take the site in a new, positive direction. Hilary showed she had a heart when she helped out some disadvantaged children at Christmastime. Then again, she proved she wasn’t all good, however, when she caused Mariah to trip during a GC Buzz broadcast.
Next, Devon developed amnesia after getting into a serious car wreck. After Devon recovered, he took up with Mariah, prompting Hilary to start seeing photographer Jordan. Hilary took Juliet’s side in her harassment case against Cane, further driving a wedge between Hilary and Devon.
Hevon Can Wait
Much to Lily’s chagrin, Devon agreed to father Hilary’s baby and she became pregnant. Devon and Hilary argued regularly, but Hilary’s life took a swift and dramatic end after she was in a car wreck — thanks to Lily’s careless driving. Hilary and Devon wed on her deathbed.
She said her goodbyes to those closest to her and passed away, ending the love story fans affectionally called “Hevon.” The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
