Dressed in casual non-Victor-like clothes and sporting a slight beard, The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden ventured out on Friday night for some takeout and while waiting for his meal, he recorded a heartfelt video to give us all hope in this time of global uncertainty.
Holding a wine glass with some tequila, Braeden reminded us that we’re all going through the same thing at the moment and offered words of good health in a variety of languages, including Spanish, Hebrew, and German. He also pointed out in the Twitter comments that he was NOT driving, and the person who was driving shot the video.
“Thank you so much for your loyalty, thank you so much for your wonderful tweets,” he said. “I try to answer most of them but I realize that I spend hours answering tweets…But you’re all worth it. It’s wonderful. It is YOU that makes our show successful.”
He then had a message for the frontline healthcare workers giving of themselves all over the country right now, as well as all the essential workers.
“And to all the nurses and doctors in ERs, all the truck drivers, all the people who service the hospital, all the people who are on the front lines, cops, firemen… we thank you.”
The Young and the Restless has been out of production since mid-March when much of the country shut down as the dangers of the coronavirus pandemic became all too clear and actors in California have been sheltering in place. Last Thursday was the last new YR we will see for a while until soaps and other TV shows are able to resume production.
When we last saw Victor, he was broken up over his falling out with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and having to tell Adam (Mark Grossman) he killed a man as a child. How will this story end? We won’t know for a while, but until then we can enjoy classic episodes of YR every weekday.
You can see Braeden and his message for yourself in the tweeted video below. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
