The Young and the Restless recap for Friday, July 30, 2021, heads into August with a bit of a role reversal. Rey, who is usually the voice of reason, comes off like a lunatic. On the other hand, Chelsea, who convinced the Genoa City justice system that she was crazy, actually talks sense. Luckily, Phyllis continues sounding like a complete nut, so the entire world doesn’t fly off its axis.
When Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) confronts Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) about stealing her phone, sending a fake text to Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), then sending Jack (Peter Bergman) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) video of their confrontation, Phyllis launches into another rage about how Sally and Tara drove her Summer (Hunter King) out of town.
Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) overheard and advised Phyllis that what she did was, in fact, illegal. But then Phyllis sucked Amanda into her crazy, and they decided to work together to prove Sally and Tara are evil incarnate. Phyllis plans to go to L.A. to talk to Eric Forrester (John McCook) about why he recommended Summer for her Italian job.
Meanwhile, Jack told Kyle he was starting to have suspicions about his son’s baby mama. Kyle is sure it’s all Sally’s fault. She manipulated sweet, innocent Tara. Jack asks Tara to reassure him she’s innocent, while Sally demands Kyle tell her why everyone wants to ruin her life so much.
Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) returned from watching Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) – does she not need to be watched anymore? – and brought Connor (Judah Mackey) home for a reunion with his dad.
But when Sharon (Sharon Case) mentioned how excited Adam (Mark Grossman) will be to see him, Rey suddenly got suspicious – has Sharon been spending time with Adam? It made him seem a wee bit unhinged.
Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) reminded Chelsea how awful Adam is and how they still hate him, right? Chelsea says she’s decided to forgive her ex and take responsibility for her actions. Chloe isn’t appeased. It doesn’t make her look sane, either.
