The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, August 9, 2021, sees entitlement hit levels previously unimagined, as Phyllis Summers gloats and twists the knife, Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman assume the world is theirs for the taking, and Naya Benedict comes up with the most self-serving defense ever.
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is gloating to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) that she is the hero of the hour, having finally opened Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) eyes to the evil that was Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) – and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Now Phyllis’s precious baby girl can finally stop suffering in sunny Milan, and come home to Mommy, grateful for everything Phyllis did for her.
Phyllis and Kyle Skype from Europe to announce that they are back together, more in love than ever – and they’re moving to Milan. While Phyllis processes this loss, which no other parent has ever had to suffer through, Kyle informs his father that he will be running Jabot from Italy. He can do that, right, Dad? What’s the point of being a spoiled trust fund baby if you can’t make your own hours – and choose your own workspace?
Oh, and Kyle will be bringing Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) to live in Milan with him and Summer. Sure, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) was just at Jack’s, being reasonable about visitation for Harrison and Kyle. But Kyle isn’t in the mood for sharing. Mine, mine, mine!
Little does he know that Ashland and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) are currently telling her parents that they’re planning to get married. And be there to support Harrison through the loss of his mother.
To assuage her grief over her grown daughter not wanting to live in her pocket, Phyllis gloats as Lauren (Tracey Bregman) fires Sally, and Jack confronts her about Tara. Sally vows that Phyllis will live to regret this. Phyllis hurries to tell Summer that it’s safe to come home. Sally is gone! Summer still doesn’t want to come home. Phyllis loses it. I DID THIS FOR YOU!!!
Naya (Ptosha Storey) tells Amanda (Mishael Morgan) that giving her and Hilary up was for the best. They were much better off growing up poor and in foster care than they would have with big, bad Sutton’s money and control. Why isn’t Amanda more grateful?!
