It’s customary for the more mature, wiser generation to help those younger than them learn important life lessons. Just look at Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). He’s taking a tough-love approach where his sudden nephew Theo (Tyler Johnson) is concerned.

And he’s hoping against hope that getting booted out of Jabot will teach the young man not to take the easy out and copy someone else’s homework. Let’s hope Theo commits that to memory while he’s scheming his way into Chancellor Communications (because, surely, that’s where that storyline is headed).

But Theo isn’t the only Genoa City-ite in need of re-education. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) REALLY needs to re-enroll in Parenting 101…unless he’s happy about the current state of affairs.

Victor and His Secrets

We’re gonna go out on a limb and say he’s not. Especially since Adam (Mark Grossman) knows that he is a murderer and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) has seemingly severed all ties with him (again). Oh, and Nicholas is still sore at him too but that’s pretty par for the course.

At least he has Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) to tend to Victor’s bruised ego. And even though she’s a few years younger than him, perhaps she can impart this incredibly important piece of advice: Honesty is the best policy.

YR Musings

Where, oh where is Phyllis (Michele Stafford) going to find a set of bones to plant on Abby’s (Melisa Ordway) construction site? (Because, surely, that’s where this storyline is headed.)

Summer: “Maybe if you weren’t so busy trying to pretend that this didn’t matter to you, you have noticed that Kyle doesn’t get any enjoyment out of this. You guys have a history. You were friends, and that actually means something to him. Jack had it all wrong…The whole time he’s accused Kyle of being too focused on you when, really, it was the other way around.”

So…we’re just ignoring all the slights, the backbiting, the insult hurling and the near assaults that Kyle launched against Theo? How many times did he label his “friend” a “son of a bitch” or a “bastard” or a “snake in the grass?” Did the writers forget how we swore that Theo would NEVER be a part of his family because he wasn’t good enough?

We can excuse retcons of decades-old history. But don’t insult us by rewriting a story that’s less than a year old because you realized your “hero” was actually a pompous, elitist jerk. But please, don’t think we feel Theo is blameless. He was a pot-stirring jerk as well. But at least he owns that. Kyle? He’s too wimpish to do so.

Victor: “Adam, you have always resented that I followed your mother’s wishes. It was your mother’s wish that you not know that I was your father. I wanted to raise you as a boy. I wanted to raise bring you to Genoa City.”

In point of fact, Victor, DID bring Adam – and Hope – back to Genoa City after Cliff’s passing. However, after having her purse stolen and becoming a victim of assault, Hoppe insisted on returning to Kansas.

Nikki: “You think I should have empathy for Adam because I accidentally killed my childhood friend and buried the memory of it until I was an adult, I know!”

For the uninitiated, five-year-old Nikki Reed accidentally shot the similarly aged Joshua Cassen and didn’t recall the incident until his skeleton was unearthed decades later. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
