The Young and the Restless Recap: All About Adam… and Victoria

The Young and the Restless recap for August 17-21, 2020 features Sharon gaining a new client, a major shake-up at Newman Enterprises, the Abbott family being reminded of an important life lesson, and Theo and Kyle displaying… maturity?!

The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Adam (Mark Grossman) spent the week consumed with a burning desire to recall the murder he committed at age 11. He’s absolutely convinced that if he can just remember the exact details of how and why AJ Montalvo met his maker than everything about his present-day personage will finally make sense.

In other words, Adam’s desperate to know if he was born bad or if he continues to do bad, bad things because that long ago “incident” clouded his moral compass. Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Victor (Eric Braeden) insist that sleeping dogs should be allowed to lie, but Adam is sure that he knows best.

And he’s certain that the only person in the world capable of helping him is Sharon (Sharon Case). Maybe figuring out the details of his very first offense will go a long way in explaining how he was fine with killing Ashely’s (Eileen Davidson) unborn baby, disposing of its body in a fireplace, and replacing it with one he stole from his future wife.

And since Sharon’s never met a challenge she didn’t face head-on, she told Adam she’d love to help him recover his repressed memory – as long as Chelsea gave the all-clear. And she did…eventually. After Sharon practically browbeat her for even considering any alternative to Adam’s total recall of the event.

The Times They Are A-Changing

Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is back in charge at Newman. In one fell swoop, she offloaded both the company’s cosmetics and media divisions – making hefty profits from purchasers Jack (Peter Bergman) and “Billy Boy” Abbott (Jason Thompson) – and 24 hours later she installed Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) as her COO.

Victor was less than pleased with his daughter’s decisions but when confronted, Victoria replied with the equivalent of, “Get over it!” If anything, Daddy Dearest should have been thanking his lucky stars she didn’t rat out his precious golden boy as a murder though it still remains to be seen if Victoria will use that little nugget to her advantage.

Life Lessons

There was nothing more important to John Abbott than family. Not money. Not success. Or power. When compared to love and family, they are insignificant. And that was a fact his children were reminded of thanks to an old home movie located for Dina’s (Marla Adams) sake.

Personal Growth

Remember that love quadrangle featuring Theo (Tyler Johnson), Kyle (Michael Mealor), Lola (Sasha Calle) and Summer (Hunter King)? YR remembered. Theo landed himself a plum position at Chancellor Communications, received congratulations from his lady love – who cut her losses with that Miami-based restaurant – and an extended olive branch from Kyle (Michael Mealor).

And dare we say, we actually believed that Kyle (normally a snot-nosed little brat) actually meant what he said. Wonders never cease. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
