Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor, Chance Chancellor, and Devon Hamilton managed to avoid court on The Young and the Restless. Instead, they agreed to share custody of Dominic without involving a judge. However, during it, Devon included his late father, Neil Winters. We love having Neil in storylines, but the soap made a faux pas.

The Young and the Restless Neil Winters Legacy

We’d be lying if we said we didn’t roll our eyes a bit when we heard Devon (Bryton James) ask Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Chance (Conner Floyd) to change Dominic’s name. Sure Neil (Kristoff St. John) was also Abby’s godfather, but still. So the little boy is now Dominic Phillip Newman-Abbot-Winters-Chancellor (try saying that three times fast). Talk about a difficult-to-spell moniker.

Pretentiously long name aside, when Devon got home with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), he spoke to Neil’s photo to tell him all about the situation — something he’s done several times lately. We couldn’t help but notice that Devon told Neil little Dom Six Names would carry on Neil’s legacy. While we’re sure he will, it certainly felt like a faux pas considering Neil’s other son (and his only biological child), Moses Winters (Jacob Aaron Gaines) lives in Devon’s house and is growing up, presumably to carry on their father’s legacy too.

Room for All

While ignoring Moses doesn’t mean that Dominic won’t also carry on with the work Neil started all those years ago, we didn’t like how it felt. It seems like Moses should have a larger storyline these days given how many characters he’s involved with. We’d love to see him carrying on Neil’s legacy with Devon and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) right now.

Another thing we’d love to see? Devon having a child of his own that he didn’t sire as a sperm donor. We still don’t think Abby is fully on board with this new situation and look forward to the drama that will undoubtedly unfold.
