The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of November 18, 2019

After a two year absence, Tristan Rogers is resurrecting his role as Colin Atkinson. The actor is back for a limited run — two episodes, and makes his first appearance on Thursday, November 21. He’ll share scenes with Jess Walton, who plays his ex-wife, Jill.

Rogers, who currently portrays Robert Scorpio on General Hospital, taped his YR guest spots during a production break at GH.

Alyvia Alyn Lind is also set to make a return to Genoa City as Faith Newman. Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) daughter was last seen on air in July. Lind has been absent from the show do to her work in another project, The Netflix series Daybreak.

More About Young and the Restless

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more forward-moving storylines, along with complex characters. Needless to say, daytime soap opera quickly gained a new generation of fans and outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more. Similar to many CBS shows, the daytime sudser is taped in southern California and continues to be a tourist sight for soap opera fans visiting the area.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

The Young and the Restless is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of Our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB).
