On The Young and the Restless, our views on Ashland Locke keep changing. First, he was the monster out to get poor, innocent, moist-eyed Kyle Abbott. Then he had a company to sell, and Victor Newman made sure it went to him. Then he was Victoria Newman’s knight in shining armor.
Who is Ashland Locke on The Young and the Restless
And then he was…a poor, abused runaway. A guy who left his best friend to die. A thief who stole a sick, old woman’s money. So how should fans feel about him now? What over 2,000 viewers told us:
Dump Truck
Ashland (Richard Burgi) wouldn’t know the truth if it was jumping up and down in front of him naked, 54% of you accuse, and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) should dump him and move on.
Even if she trusts him personally, she now knows that she can’t trust him professionally. And the first law of Newman life is: If the company is in danger, its welfare must come first. There are plenty more fish in the sea, Victoria. But Daddy’s legacy is forever. Or it better be.
The Young and the Restless: Needs Based
After being chained to a loser like Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), who couldn’t take care of himself, much less anybody else, a survivor like Ashland is exactly who Victoria needs, 32% of fans counter. Ashland is a real man. A real man just like the real man Mama Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) married. Which means no one could ever be a better fit.
Not Good Enough
Yeah, he’s a survivor, 14% of the audience agrees. But Victoria should still dump him anyway. Survivors like Ashland – and Victor (Eric Braeden) – always put their own well-being ahead of anyone else’s. And that is not what Victoria needs right now. She needs a man who will put her first. Daddy never will. Does she need to relive the dynamic with Ashland?
