Devon Hamilton stepped up his game when he supported Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) during Dominic’s birth. He held her up, coached her, and was even the first one to cuddle the baby. Y&R spoilers tease those moments of bonding could change everything for the super helpful friend. It’s becoming increasingly clear he wants to be more than just a donor.
The arrival of little Dominic has Devon (Bryton James) digging deep and really thinking about what he wants out of life. Memories of the child he lost cut him deeply as he is acutely aware a child is here that shares his DNA.
Can he truly walk away and just be “Devon?” This wouldn’t be much of a soap if he did. We think the biological connection is going to run too deep and push Devon to turn Abby Newman-Abbott Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) world upside down.
We can see it now, Devon decides he wants to be a father to his only child, especially since it doesn’t look like Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV is coming home any time soon. The uber dedicated cop has his priorities all out of whack and Devon doesn’t like that one little bit. Dominic deserves the world and if Chance won’t step up then Devon will.
This would be one dramatic custody battle. Y&R spoilers would tease that Devon’s lawyer girlfriend is sure to take his case. Let’s face it, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) keeps hinting Devon shouldn’t cut ties so quickly. She’s been warning him to protect himself and his rights from the beginning. Heck, she’s probably already mocked up the paperwork.
While we can’t see Devon trying to take the baby away from Abby completely, we can see him filing for joint custody. He simply wants his say in the kiddo’s life and to establish a visitation schedule. It may seem outlandish to some, but not to Devon. Chance choosing work over being there during the conception, pregnancy, surrogate kidnapping, birth, and custody filing tells Devon all he needs to know. In his head, this is absolutely the right move.
Imagine the fireworks when the billionaire families hit the courtroom. The Abbott, Newman, Chancellor, and Hamilton legacies will collide as baby Dominic’s future is up in the air. Friendships and alliances would be destroyed as everyone battles over what’s best for the baby and who has rights. Think this wild speculation could really happen?
