When Amanda first showed up on The Young and the Restless, everyone was too angry at her for daring to have Hilary’s face to ask why she had it in the first place.

But now that she’s been victimized by a stalker and is no longer the uber-confident woman she used to be, all is forgiven! Now, we finally have time to ask, what’s the deal with the Hilary (Mishael Morgan) lookalike-ness?
Obvious Ode
Amanda already told Nate (Sean Dominic) that she was given up for adoption as an infant, so the obvious guess would be she’s Hilary’s long-lost twin. Or, at least, long lost sibling. Though it is a bit confusing why her stalker, Ripley, had the same last name, Turner, as Hilary’s original birth name. Separated at birth, identical… sisters-in-law?

All long-lost illegitimate children arriving in Genoa City must first give Victor (Eric Braeden) a chance at being their father. He is very manly, you know. He could father more children than Genghis Khan if he put his mind to it! Why, even Kyle (Michael Mealor) was originally thought to be Victor’s, before Jack (Peter Bergman) was thrown a bone. So what if Amanda is Victor’s daughter?! She’s finally the child with the intelligence and ambition he deserves!

Theo (Tyler Johnson) popped out of nowhere and the show did their best to hammer him into the Abbott family. So, uh, yeah, Dina (Marla Adams) had an illegitimate son she gave up for adoption. He’s dead now. But, uh, Theo is his son! Yay! Well, who is to say Dina’s boy couldn’t have had a daughter, too? Theo, meet your sister, Amanda. Jack, look, another niece to invite for Christmas dinner!
Out Of Nowhere
Jill (Jess Walton) spent some time thinking she was Kay’s (Jeanne Cooper) daughter before she was suddenly revealed to be Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) sister. So, let’s say Amanda is, too.
