Y&R spoilers are making it clearer and clearer that Billy Abbott has a new addiction: Being the only one Chelsea Lawson turns to. He ignored his girlfriend, Lily Winters, advising him to pull back. He ignored Sharon Rosales advising him not to get overly involved.
And when Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) thanked Billy (Jason Thompson) for what he’d done so far but suggested he needs to let Adam take it from there — after all, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) is Adam’s ex-wife and the mother of his son — Billy shot back that Chelsea was also the biological mother of his son. Which really made us nervous about the possibility of Billy being so desperate to continue feeling in control he’ll resort to using Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) to do it.
Was it less than a month ago that Billy was agreeing with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) that Johnny didn’t need to know that Chelsea was his biological mother and that they’d follow the boy’s guidelines on how much — or how little — time he wanted to spend with her?
Johnny made it clear he wasn’t interested in having a relationship with Chelsea, and Victoria and Billy supported that. But then Chelsea’s suicide attempt manipulated Johnny into apologizing for his perfectly reasonable behavior of not wanting to be stalked by a woman he’d made clear wasn’t his mother and never would be.
Billy’s invoking Johnny to Adam as the reason he had a perfect right to continue being in Chelsea’s life made us fear that Billy wouldn’t be above using his son to cement that relationship. After all, Billy is at loose ends. He is in his annual “I am unhappy, and no one understands me, and why isn’t everyone supporting my whims no matter how capricious and selfish they may be” phase. He’s latched onto Chelsea as someone he can turn into a cause. Someone who needs him. Someone who will worship him. Someone who won’t judge him.
And if Billy has to guilt Johnny into a relationship with Chelsea in order to maintain his own claim on her, we’re afraid he’ll have no qualms about doing just that. He already said as much to Adam. Think this speculation may happen? Let us know in the comments section below.
