Y&R spoilers tell us that Billy thinks he’s the only sane Abbott left in Genoa City. He doesn’t like how Diane has blinded Jack. He doesn’t like that Ashley is with Tucker. (He doesn’t really remember that Traci exists.)
Billy (Jason Thompson) made it clear to Lily (Christel Khalil) that he is Jabot’s savior. He is “the right person for the job to run Jabot.” Since Jack (Peter Bergman) isn’t about to politely step aside, a coup is the only option — no matter how much Billy claims that’s not what he’s interested in. And since this is Billy we’re talking about, the only thing left to wonder is: When and how badly will he screw up?
Billy always felt that John (Jerry Douglas) preferred Jack and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) — and, yeah, sure, Traci (Beth Maitland), too — over him. They were Dina’s (Marla Adams) kids, and he’s Jill’s (Jess Walton) son. That’s the only reason John chose Jack and Ashley to run Jabot over him. It couldn’t possibly be because Billy was still a teenager when John died. And Jack has decades of experience, while Ashley actually has a degree in chemistry. It had to be because Billy was the unfavorite.
Lily very sensibly pointed out that Billy was never particularly interested in Jabot. He never wanted to run it or even work there, particularly. Remember when he was starting his own company? Remember his podcast? Remember all of Billy’s speeches about striking out on his own?
But then all those goofs failed. And Billy came back to Jabot. Where he chafed at his siblings and even Kyle (Michael Mealor) working above him. So now he’s going to show his siblings that he’s the smartest — and the best — Abbott. Of course, he may end up driving the company into the ground to make his point, though. It seems like Billy is about to find a whole new way to screw up, but it probably won’t be with Jaboat.
