The Young and the Restless spoilers raw breakdown for Thursday, June 4, 2020, features a look back on one of the most devastating days in Abbott family history. It’s a flashback to John’s funeral from August 24, 2006.
Grab your tissues for this tear-jerking episode. The loss of John (Jerry Douglas) will hit everyone hard. Everyone who loved him continues to reel from his loss as they hold his memorial and prepare for his burial.
The Abbott siblings (sans Billy) will get ready for the day with one of their favorite pastimes, a family breakfast. But, it’s just not the same without John. It’s going to be a small, simple ceremony, just as the patriarch would like.
The church sets the stage for the service with Jill (Jess Walton) and Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) being the first to arrive. They each say their private farewells and hold each other’s hands. It’s a good thing they’re there, as the Abbotts are going to need them. They’re the only people standing by their side.
Tears will shed as each of the attendees stand up to share their thoughts. Expect some cherished flashbacks of everyone’s favorite times. Jack’s (Peter Bergman) eulogy is sure to take everyone’s breath away. John was a great father, a great businessman, and a great human being. He will be missed by all.
Colleen and Billy decided to opt out of the service. They each agree they said their goodbyes at the hospital and can’t bring themselves to do it again. Instead, they head to the house to set up for the reception.
Noticeably absent is John’s doting (or-not-so doting, depending on who you ask) wife, Gloria (Judith Chapman). She, Michael (Christian LeBlanc), Lauren (Tracey Bregman), and Kevin (Greg Rikaart) share their own stories and memories of John before heading to the funeral. By the time they arrive Glo learns the family went head without her. Of course, it makes sense to Gloria – Jack made darn sure she wasn’t around.
Well, this is war now! Expect Glo to dust herself off, hold her head high, and begin plotting her revenge. She’ll have her own private ceremony and head on over to the mansion to expose Jack the cad! The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
