Former General Hospital star (ex-Nina) and current Young and the Restless cast member Michelle Stafford, who wows fans as Phyllis, now has a new role. OK, it’s not really new — it’s more a new life for an old film. But this updated version is taking the festival circuit by storm and bringing her much-deserved kudos.
“I’m really proud of this film I did years ago that is making a resurgence,” Stafford posted on Instagram. “The director @scottmccullough re-edited it as a short, made it great and it’s been in over 20 festivals and won countless awards for Best Film, Best Director, and acting awards for Patrick Adams, Chris Backus and a nomination for me in the #bucharestshortcutcinefes.
“I really like my work in this film, mainly because Scott is a BRILLIANT director,” the two-time Daytime Emmy-winner adds. “He made me look good. A good director can make you amazing. It’s not a role that I would normally get cast in. I was really happy to work on this film! You can watch it as a short through [this link]. The festivals shown here are just a few the film was accepted into! Go follow Scott and tell him how great he is!! Good things to come from the both of us y’all!.”
The film tells the story of Lucas Snow, a central player in the drug turf wars in Los Angeles in 2004. He survives being buried alive only to find out that he can’t escape his life.
Mark Williams chimed in on Stafford’s post. “Wow…loved it..” Williams wrote, “kept my attention. Lucas [played by Christopher Backus] looks like a young Brad Pitt and your character was unlike anything I have seen you do. It reminded me of Juliette Lewis in Secrets and Lies she was a stone-cold cop and badass.”
