Recently, Chris McKenna, who played Det. Mark Harding on The Young and the Restless, revealed that members of his family had been injured in a car accident over Thanksgiving weekend. Now, the former Genoa City lawman has given an update on their status.
Good News For Chris McKenna
“Thank you everyone for all your support and warmth,” McKenna posted. “We’re very moved and appreciative. I’ll update with good news as it arrives.” Fortunately, some good news is already here! The actor posted a photo of his niece, whom he had reported emerged, miraculously, uninjured from the incident. “For now, this one is still smiling and nothing matters more to Mom than that.”
McKenna, who was not in the car at the time of the accident, shared that he’d be going back home to help his family, particularly his mother, at this difficult time.
The actor was quite popular during his stint on YR from 2014-15. Harding flirted with Abby (Melissa Ordway) and sparred often with Kevin (Greg Rikaart) at the Genoa City police station. Alas, beneath his charm was a conniver. Harding got mixed up with drug lord Marco Anacelli (Peter Bergman) and turned killer.
He sent to that great soap in the sky both Austin Travers (Matthew Atkinson, now, Thomas on The Bold and the Beautiful) and fellow law enforcer Courtney Sloane (Kelli Goss). Eventually, Harding was found out and killed in a gunfight with Paul Williams (Doug Davidson).
The actor first became a hit with soap fans for his portrayal of Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live. McKenna’s Llanview stay ran from 1990-93.
Post-YR, McKenna has worked often on such series as Major Crimes, Frequency, Grimm, Mom, and, in 2016, he popped up on BB as Dr. Hayden.
