Matthew Atkinson is the latest in a long line of performers to tackle the role of legacy character Thomas Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. And while many fans feel that they have a pretty good handle on the character of Thomas, the same can’t be said for Atkinson. So let’s get to know this fine young actor with these five fast facts.
Atkinson is a true southern boy through and through. He was born in Marietta, Georgia and has lived in Alabama and Mississippi. His family finally settled in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Atkinson’s first onscreen role was on the CW soap One Tree Hill. Subsequently, he has appeared on some of television’s most popular series including CSI, Drop Dead Diva, The Middle, and Young & Hungry.
Play What You Know
Atkinson, who is a fitness enthusiast, played baseball for 10 years. His skill at the sport helped him score the role of Nick Fadden on the ABC Family series Jane By Design.
Practice Makes Perfect
Atkinson is certainly no stranger to daytime dramas. In fact, he appeared on BB’s sister series The Young and the Restless. Between April 2014 and August 2015 Atkinson played the contract role of Austin Travers.
Travers began as character bent on avenging his mother’s murder who later married Summer Newman. At the end of his run, Travers ran afoul of police detective Mark Harding, who ended up killing him.
Written In the Stars
Brooke and Ridge would call it “destiny.” Others would call it fate. But surely it’s no coincidence that Atkinson became quite chummy with Linsey Godfrey when he worked on YR which was right across the hall from BB.
Godfrey was, of course, playing Caroline Spencer who would go on to conceive a son with Thomas. It’s just too bad that Atkinson and never Godfrey never got to work opposite each other on-screen. When Atkinson debuted as Thomas earlier this year he announced that Caroline had died.
