Life in Genoa City and The Young and the Restless (YR) has been humdrum since Victor’s duplicitous son, Adam, was presumed dead after being blown up in an explosion thanks to Chloe.
Sure, Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) determined to avenge her husband’s murder by tracking down Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and making her pay for her crime.
But, wouldn’t it be an even better twist to foreshadow that Adam is actually still out there alive and well?
A Big Return
The possibilities for his return are huge. First and foremost, Adam would have to reconcile himself with his wife having moved on with his brother, Nick (Joshua Morrow).
Then, there’s the fact that Christian is alive and being raised by Nick, when he’s actually Adam and the late Sage’s biological son. Adam’s return would totally blow up Nick’s happy new world.
Recast Number 4
Who could play Adam number four and would a third recast be a success? To date, The Young and the Restless has had the Midas touch when it comes to finding actors for the role.
Michael Muhney, who replaced Chris Engen, quickly developed a rabid fan base. And Justin Hartley, who stepped in after Muhney’s departure, eventually became a huge hit with viewers, too.
Who’s Up to the Task?
There are three former soap stars who could definitely handle the assignment. Topping the list is James Scott (ex-EJ). He went head-to-head with Joseph Mascolo (ex-Stefano) and held his own as the powerhouse actor’s son on Days of Our Lives (DOOL).
Hence, working opposite Eric Braeden’s Victor wouldn’t be the least bit intimidating. Granted, he’d have to lose the English accent for the part.
Another good candidate for the job: Jeffrey Vincent Parise (ex-Carlos and Joe, General Hospital).
This past year’s Daytime Emmy nominee for Outstanding Supporting Actor is a force to be reckoned with. He can play good guy; he can play bad guy; and he knows how to infuse his character with layers that aren’t necessarily in the script.
Last on the list: What about DAYS alum Paul Telfer (ex-Xander)? Telfer’s never gotten a fair shake on the Salem-based soap. Every time things start to heat up, he’s written off.
As the pivotal character of Adam, he’d have a role he could finally sink his teeth into and, in the process, possibly emerge as a daytime star. A la Scott, he’d have to nix his accent, too.
