Just a short 10 years ago, nine soap operas graced the small screen every weekday. Now a mere four — Days of Our Lives (DOOL), The Young and the Restless (YR), General Hospital (GH), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), survive.

Fans still desperately miss dearly departed shows like One Life to Live, All My Children, Guiding Light, and many others. Some want to see them back even if they appear in a different format like Netflix.

Soap Hub asked fans if they want to see more soaps included in the daytime lineup or elsewhere. Here are the unexpected results!

The More The Merrier!
Bring on more daytime drama for 60% of you. You grew up on soaps, you’ve shared them with your family and friends, and you can’t stand to see what’s become of them over the last decade.

You think soaps can and should fill more daytime timeslots than they do today! You cannot stand to see any more shows like The Talk and The Chew take place of your beloved soaps.

What do you think? Post a comment!

You think networks should invest more in this more than eight-decade-old genre. It’s been successful for this long because of its ability to adapt to an ever-changing world. You think that the soap genre can continue to adapt well into the 21st Century and beyond!

Save What is Left!
However, 40% of you would rather see the soaps that are left saved. With ever dropping ratings, you want to see producers correct issues surrounding production, writing, and casting to help keep the four remaining daytime dramas.

Sure, perhaps once the audience solidifies around vibrant storylines and landscapes, then you’d be willing to considering watching new soaps, but until then, you want to fix what’s broken with what’s left.
