The Y&R spoilers recap for Friday, September 9, 2022, brings a big declaration from Victor Newman, but Nick Newman isn’t quite ready to jump to his father’s bidding this time. It’s a wild and crazy episode.

Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights

Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman Rosales (Sharon Case) lamented leaving Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) at college while standing outside Society. They decided to drown their sadness in good food, but Victor (Eric Braeden) showed up, insisting that they all eat together. Although Sharon wasn’t entirely thrilled, she and Nick went in. News that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) already sent Faith a care package made Sharon cry, so she took a few moments away to compose herself.

While Sharon was away from the table, Victor told Nick he envisioned Faith as the next CEO of Newman Enterprises, and Nick said that’s exactly what his daughter wanted. Of course, Victor’s next edict — firing Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) — didn’t thrill Nick. He told Victor that he had no plan to fire Sally, which Victor didn’t agree with. Nick insisted that Sally is killing it running Newman Media. Victor expressed his desire that family run all aspects of the company, and then he complained that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) had hired Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).

When Sharon returned, Victor decreed that Sally must get the pink slip, and Nick would take over as CEO of Newman Media. Nick told Sharon that the conversation needed to stay between them, and then he told Victor he wasn’t on board with the plan. Plus, Nick mentioned he wasn’t at all interested in running Newman Media or sticking it to Adam, which Nick ascertained was his father’s real agenda. Victor said he was stunned to hear Nick defending Adam. Even Sharon stepped in and defended Adam. Nick reiterated that he and Adam shared something in common — Victor helped both sons avoid repercussions related to taking a man’s life. Victor urged Nick to stop talking about the delicate family matter, but Nick told his dad he was lucky to have Sharon to talk to, and she knew everything that happened. Even so, Victor wouldn’t apologize for protecting his sons, but Nick still struggled with what he did to Ashland Locke (Robert Newman).

Young and the Restless: A Stunning Announcement

At Crimson Lights, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) had coffee together. She said she’d hoped their time together would be easy. Unfortunately, Nate’s plans for putting together the music festival while Devon (Bryton James) was gone really worried Elena. The couple clashed when she expressed her concerns. Nate declared he was tired of holding back to appease Devon, and Elena tried to convince her boyfriend to slow down — out of love, of course.

Y&R Spoilers Recap Christel Khalil, Jason Thompson "The Young and the Restless" Set

At Chancellor-Winters, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) told Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) all about an upcoming call with Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton). They figured since she included Devon, it was serious. When Nate showed up later, he and Billy talked. The Chief Operating Officer told Nate that he and Lily were concerned about Nate and Devon’s tension. Nate declared he merely wanted his good ideas supported, but Devon didn’t do that even when Lily liked them. Nate asked Billy for some advice on how to balance the business relationship with the personal relationship.

Then, after getting some support from Billy, Nate decided to pitch his idea to Billy just for practice. Billy actually loved the idea, and Lily showed up at the end of it, but she wondered if he’d run it by Devon. Billy suggested that Nate share the details during the conference call with Jill and Devon. Once the call started, Jill announced she had something to say that would blow their socks off.

Jill wanted to know what they’d been doing, and Billy mentioned Nate’s festival plans. Devon seemed blindsided and expressed all his concerns, but Nate had answers for all of them. Things got contentious, but Jill asked Lily if she liked the idea, which put the CEO in a tough position. She avoided answering, and Jill noted she supported healthy, rigorous debate, but she was proud of how passionate they all were about Chancellor-Winters.

Jill’s big announcement left everybody stunned, though — she wanted to take Chancellor-Winters public. Jill thought it’d increase their capital exponentially and fund expansions like the one Nate proposed. Jill wanted big, bold moves, and she suggested they develop a worldwide circuit of music festivals, which left Billy, Devon, and Lily surprised. Devon worried going public would make them have to give up too much control, and he worried it wouldn’t be a family company anymore. Lily asked what Nate thought, but he said it was above his paygrade and walked out, leaving Jill wanting to know what was going on.

Nate walked out, and he called to cancel the music festival and declared Chancellor-Winters would pay the fee. Elena overheard and was clearly concerned, but Nate said he’d made a huge mistake working with his cousins, and he was out.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: Just Friends

At the rooftop bar, Adam sat, and Sally showed up. It was awkward for a moment, but then Adam invited her to sit, so she did. They talked business, and Sally gave Adam the credit for how well Newman Media’s recent numbers turned out.

Adam wondered if Sally had forgiven him, but she noted there wasn’t anything to forgive. That upset him a bit because he perceived that Sally meant he was just a jerk, so that was how he was. Sally didn’t deny that. Of course, Adam had a confession to make — he fell in love with Sally, who was the one woman he never had to pretend with (aside from that one time). He expressed his sorrow at what happened, and Sally said they’d moved passed all that. She declared they were drinking as just friends, but Adam didn’t feel like “just friends.”

It looked like Adam was going to kiss Sally. Then, she got a text that broke the moment. It seemed that Chloe Fisher Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) with something important she had to deal with at work. Adam didn’t want her to go, but Sally gathered her strength and left — for many reasons.

Coming Up Next On Y&R Spoilers: Family Matters

Coming up, Adam’s siblings Victoria and Nick conspire against him, and in other news, the sky is blue. Once again, Adam will feel less than a full Newman, which is what he’s always complained about, and despite Nick’s newfound empathy for his younger brother, he and Victoria still can’t bury the hatchet.
