The Y&R spoilers recap for Wednesday, September 7, 2022, brings a huge argument between Jack Abbott and Billy Abbott that starts over Adam Newman but devolves into more personal matters. Plus, Chelsea Lawson has a terrible day, and she lets a shocked Abby Chancellor know about it while Chance Chancellor finds himself cornered by Sally Spectra.

Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights

Jack (Peter Bergman) and Billy (Jason Thompson) happened to meet up at Crimson Lights. Right off the bat, Billy started in on Jack hiring Adam (Mark Grossman). He had snarky things to say about Adam burning down Jabot, which Jack didn’t appreciate.

Y&R Spoilers Recap 4

Billy expressed his absolute fury at Jack hiring somebody who had hurt him so badly, but Jack defended hiring Adam. In fact, Jack let his brother know that he had no say over his hires since Jack is the Chief Executive Officer at Jabot — not Billy.

As often happens with these two, Jack turned things around on Billy, and after the younger Abbott mentioned he’d quit the podcasts, Jack was surprised. He pointed out that Billy was never cut out for the corporate world, and Jack asked what his brother really wanted in his life. Billy took great offense to Jack’s condescending tone, and the brothers continued arguing back and forth until Billy walked out of the coffee shop in anger.

Young and the Restless: Not Okay

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) had yet another difficult day. This time, it started with Adam at Chancellor Park. She’d shocked him by asking to whisk Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) away to see her mother. Adam surprised her a bit by refusing to allow it. They argued back and forth quite a bit, but Adam remained unmoved. He specifically said he for sure didn’t want Chelsea to take Connor out of town for an extended visit.

Chelsea Adam The Young and the Restless

Chelsea seriously lost it when Adam told her his thoughts on her plans. She explained that she was spiraling out of control and really needed to get out of Genoa City. Adam appreciated that Chelsea opened up to him about how she felt, but he wasn’t going to let her take Connor with her and that their son was no life preserver to keep her from drowning.

Sally (Courtney Hope) happened to walk up at the end of their argument, and he talked with her about it after Chelsea left. Adam explained he was worried about Chelsea’s mental state — especially since it wasn’t helpful for Connor to be around somebody with such a hair-trigger temper. Sally understood his concerns, but she also empathized with Chelsea. After all, she is Connor’s mother. Ultimately, though, Sally let Adam know that he was going to have to earn her forgiveness.

Y&R Spoilers Recap 2

Back at Newman Media, Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Sally talked about Chelsea. Sally let her Chief Operating Officer know that it might be time to check in on her friend. Chloe thought it was odd that Sally had something somewhat decent to say about Chelsea, and then she complained about how terrible Adam is. Sally pushed back a bit, noting that Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) had an okay relationship with him at this point, but Chloe pointed out that it had taken years.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: Too Tipsy To Drive

Poor Chance (Conner Floyd) thought he was going to get off work early and have drinks with Abby (Melissa Ordway). However, Sally saw him on the patio at Crimson Lights, and she wanted to talk for just a few minutes. Chance tried to dissuade her, but Sally remained undeterred.

She sat and told Chance all about how she declined to publish the real story about Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death. Then she insinuated that they’d both decided to side with the Newman family. Chance took umbrage to that, and he let Sally know there wasn’t enough evidence to create a solid case, which is why it was now closed.

Over at Society, Abby spoke for a while with Chloe, who mentioned that Chance and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) had some tension as a result of the Locke case. That was news to Abby, and she mentioned she wanted to ask Chance about it, which was fine with Chloe.

Chelsea Chance Abby The Young and the Restless

After Chloe left, Abby had the misfortune of asking Chelsea how she was doing. Chelsea absolutely lost it. She let Abby know all the ways she wasn’t fine, and then she quickly downed a few drinks, leaving her light-headed. Chance arrived, and Abby quietly asked him to offer Chelsea a ride home, so he did. After a bit of back and forth, Chelsea accepted. Chance walked her to her room, and she mentioned that perhaps it was living in a hotel that kept her from feeling settled. Chance pointed out that anywhere your kids were could be made a home, and Chelsea happily agreed.

Coming Up Next On Y&R Spoilers: A Shocking Announcement

Coming up, expect to see Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) make a shocking announcement. What could it be? Is she moving on from her vendetta against Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters)? That doesn’t seem likely, but stranger things have happened.

You will also see Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) corner Jack. Their most recent interactions have been reasonably pleasant, and given that they both work in the same building, they’re likely to see each other frequently. Of course, that doesn’t mean Jack is at all ready to give Phyllis another chance, but then, she may not even want to try again with Jack at this point.
