Y&R Spoilers Recap For September 5: Diane Is Hiding A Powerful Ally

The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, September 5, 2022, brings big news that Diane Jenkins is hiding a powerful ally. Plus, Nikki Newman and Phyllis Summers get a surprise when Talia Morgan’s planned series on Diane is canceled, Kyle Abbott tries to plan a surprise for Summer Newman Abbott, and Adam Newman empathizes with his brother Nick Newman.

Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights

Diane (Susan Walters) was near tears over the article about her past misdeeds. Jack (Peter Bergman) wasn’t overly sympathetic. He told Diane she should’ve expected something like that since she returned to Genoa City. He did, though, advise her to handle it calmly without lashing out. Both Diane and Jack suspected that Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) were behind it, though.

Meanwhile, at Crimson Lights, Nikki and Phyllis met with Talia (Natalie Morales) to crow over the article. During their discussion, Talia got the bad news that her editor had canceled the series, which didn’t sit well with the women.

Later, at Jabot, Diane got a text from somebody indicating that she owed them for getting the next articles canceled. She seemed agitated by the text, and she made sure to hide it from Jack and Phyllis. Later, after Diane overheard Phyllis suggesting to Jack that Marchetti Home redecorate the Abbott mansion living room, Diane texted her unknown powerful ally back to tell them not to contact her because things were still precarious. It seems Diane may have something up her sleeve despite all her protests to the contrary.

Young and the Restless: Surprises

At the Abbott mansion, Kyle (Michael Mealor) talked with Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) about his surprise vow renewal. Of course, Summer (Allison Lanier) could tell something was up, but neither Traci nor Kyle would spill the beans. Then, when Summer alluded to it being about the article, which Kyle knew nothing about, Traci made a hasty exit.

At Jabot, Kyle talked to his mom, and Diane cried about how unfair it was to have all her misdeeds plastered all over the place, but Kyle was very kind and patient with her. Speaking of being patient, later, Kyle talked to Phyllis about his surprise for Summer, and she loved it. As they talked, he let his mother-in-law know that he understood why she’d want to protect her daughter from Diane, and that seemed to resonate with Phyllis. She agreed to help him plan the wedding celebration as long as she and Diane weren’t working together.

Back at home, Kyle talked with an event planner, and of course, Summer overheard. She really pushed her husband to ‘fess up about what he had going on. It seems like Kyle’s surprise may not stay a surprise for long since these two spend nearly all their time together.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: A Mixup

Abby (Melissa Ordway) created a lovely picnic for her and Chance (Conner Floyd) at Chancellor Park. She had everything beautifully packed. There was just one problem, though. She packed another picnic for Dominic and his nanny to have at the zoo, and the baskets accidentally got mixed up. That left her and Chance with apple slices and fish crackers instead of the fancy vintage wine and yummy food. They made the best of things, though, and reconnected over the time in the park, and later, they took it back to their house, where they enjoyed some adult time in bed while Dominic was still away with his nanny.

Also at the park were Adam and Sally. He asked her if she had thought about his request for forgiveness. He apologized for not making any big grand gesture with flowers or anything. Sally told Adam it was all she’d thought about, and she also informed him that he was a huge distraction from her job. As for whether or not she’d forgive him…well, they didn’t reach a conclusion on that one just yet.

Before that, Sally told her chief operating officer and friend Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) that she needed her to truly listen instead of just badmouthing Adam. Chloe tried, but she wasn’t too successful.

Adam had spoken with his brother before that, and he encouraged Nick to get professional therapy over killing Ashland Locke (Robert Newman). Nick said he didn’t want to rehash the whole thing with a professional, though, but Adam warned him that his inner demons would haunt him if he held it all in. Later, Nick saw Nikki at the ranch, and he let his mom know he identified with Adam more now. She seemed to have a bit of compassion toward her stepson, and then Nikki asked Nick what it would mean if he could just let go of his guilt over causing Ashland’s death.

Coming Up Next On Y&R Spoilers: Suspicious Minds

Coming up tomorrow, Victor discovers his youngest son, Adam’s latest deception. Does it have to do with Adam working with Jack at Jabot? Or is there something else big that Adam’s been hiding? Lately, he’s seemed to be back on the straight and narrow, but is he actually planning something more nefarious? Victor is sure to know what’s happening.

Elsewhere, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) isn’t too pleased about Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) partnership with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). Although Lily didn’t blow up over Chelsea kissing Billy, she’s certainly not loving that it happened either. It’s going to be tough for Billy to defend continuing to partner with Chelsea after all that. Check out the daily breakdown below for more.
