The Y&R spoilers recap for Wednesday, September 14, 2022, brings a surprising moment of intimacy between Nick Newman and Sally Spectra as Adam Newman lurked outside, and things just got more awkward from there.
Well, it seems that a handshake led straight to passion for Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sally (Courtney Hope). They wasted little time making out and moving straight to the couch in Sally’s office at Newman Media. As they got busy, Adam (Mark Grossman) walked up to the door, and he nearly went in, but after a few moments, he walked away.

However, Adam decided to knock on the door and ask for Sally. She shushed Nick, and they continued to do the deed as Adam walked away. He showed up at Society, where he ended up running into Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
Before Adam arrived, Victor and Jack continued their talk, and while it remained contentious for a bit, they ended up on reasonable terms. Even so, Victor insinuated that he was through being Adam’s dad, which Jack didn’t believe. Then talk turned to Keemo, and Victor gave his condolences. They bonded, though, over Jack’s new granddaughter Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) and Victor’s grandson Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) beginning a relationship. While Jack waxed poetic over possible Newman/Abbott great-grandchildren in the future, Victor told Jack to slow down.
While Jack tried to say nice things about Victor and Adam, the elder Newman told his son that they were through. After Victor left, Jack apologized to his new co-Chief Executive Officer, but Adam admitted he was the one who suggested that they finally part ways.
Victor left and went to his boxing club and started boxing out all his anger. However, all that intense physical activity didn’t seem to help him get rid of his negative feelings.
After Jack left, Adam ordered a drink at the bar, and then he saw Sally and Nick walk in. Adam did everything he could to try to get them to join him. However, Nick and Sally begged off, saying they had a working dinner planned. Even then, Adam didn’t give up. He asked to join them.
Well, the awkwardness commenced at dinner. Sally talked about how hungry she was, and Adam reminisced about how hungry Sally used to get after long work nights. Adam called Nick a taskmaster. Adam complimented Sally on some business decisions, and then Nick suggested that they stop talking business.
After their awkward dinner, Nick walked Sally back to her hotel suite, and instead of inviting him in, she said goodnight at the door. They didn’t even shake hands. After Nick walked away and Sally went inside, Adam showed up outside her door.
At Crimson Lights, both Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) finished up some high-powered phone calls. Then, they sat down and congratulated each other on their big CEO successes. They also discussed Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and some details about Victoria and Billy’s children. Ultimately, they parted on friendly terms.
Meanwhile, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) tried to avoid talking to Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) by taking off for the night. Devon insisted they do it now, so Nate walked back into Chancellor-Winters. He started immediately by telling off Devon for not taking his ideas seriously. For his part, Devon didn’t take Nate’s accusations without pushing back. He noted that his cousin had walked around with a “screw my boss” attitude the entire time.
Devon complained about Nate storming out of the meeting with Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton) recently. However, Nate told his cousin that Jill liked his ideas. Devon said that Nate walked around like a surgeon with a God complex wanting to focus on his ideas only instead of what was best for the company. Not surprisingly, Nate brought up sucker punches, and the two cousins nearly got into a physical fight, but Billy managed to step in in time.
Billy encouraged them to calm down, and Devon acted like he wasn’t involved in a problem. Nate shocked everybody by announcing that he planned to quit. Billy tried to mediate, but when Lily walked in, he handed the issue off to her. She refused to take Nate’s resignation and demanded that they stay there until they solved the whole problem. Lily even brought up Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) and said he taught them all better than this.
Nate said the situation was untenable, and Devon said all he wanted was respect, which is all Nate wanted too. Lily refused to give up, but Devon said it was for the best, and Nate agreed. Lily wondered how it would affect the company going public, and Devon didn’t like the idea of it going public at all. She said Jill’s plans included Nate, but he said that Lily was trying to convince the wrong person since nothing would change on Devon’s end. Then, Nate walked out. Lily hoped their cousin would cool off and change his mind and come back. Devon didn’t seem at all interested in Nate coming back, and he got upset that Lily supported the public offering.
Nate showed up at Society, and he called Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) to meet him there as soon as possible. Of course, Imani Benedict (temporarily Denise Boutte) walked in right then. She asked what was wrong, and Imani let Nate know he could always be himself with her. He admitted that he quit his job.
Billy showed up at Crimson Lights, and Victoria was still there. He joined her and she asked Billy what was wrong. He said basically everything. Billy lamented that life didn’t go smoothly even every once and a while. She suggested that he still needed his podcast. Billy lamented the workplace drama at Chancellor-Winters, and he admitted he didn’t know what to do about it.
Coming up next, expect to see Victor help Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) as she prepares to take on an opponent from her past. She’s decided to visit Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) to take him to task for helping Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) fake her death and all that. Sure, they have a history, but Nikki feels confident she can handle it, and Victor will ensure that she’s as ready and protected as she can be. Be sure to check out the daily breakdown below for more on what’s happening next.
