The Y&R spoilers recap for Friday, October 7, 2022, brings Chelsea Lawson spiraling further downward after Johnny Abbott rejects her to her face.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) talked about Johnny (Paxton Mishkind) being upset at learning that Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) was his biological mother. Nikki complimented her daughter for keeping such poise in the face of such a tumultuous time with her son.

Of course, Victoria felt some stress over being pummeled from nearly every corner, and Nikki noted that Tucker McCall’s (Trevor St. John) arrival couldn’t be helping things. Victoria agreed. After all, Tucker always has an agenda, and while he might not be coming after Newman Enterprises, she still worried about what he was doing.
Then, Victoria alerted her mother to Nate Hastings’s (Sean Dominic) plan to help them take over as majority shareholder in Chancellor-Winters when the company goes public. Nikki wondered if Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) approved, and Victoria said he did, but she noted that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) had reservations. Then, Nikki said that it could’ve been a legal issue, but Victoria felt it’d be fine. She did, however, wonder if Tucker had the same plan she did. They discussed the possibility that Tucker knew about the company going public but thought Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) knew enough not to spill those beans. But, somehow, they figured he knew something about the impending Initial Public Offering. Nikki advised Victoria to keep her guard up and her eyes open.
Later, Billy stopped by to talk to Victoria. He gave her some good news about Johnny seeming to be more like himself. Billy reiterated that Johnny didn’t want anything to change, and Victoria wondered how Chelsea would react when things didn’t go how she planned. Billy said Chelsea was fragile, but Victoria wasn’t willing to coddle the woman, and she said Johnny had to be their priority.
Young and the Restless: Curious Coincidences
At The Glam Club, Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) went over the books from his opening night, and he wasn’t thrilled. Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) stopped by, surprising him before she went to Jabot. He told her he’d comped too many people in a bid to build long-term loyalty to his club, but Noah worried it might have been too much. Allie encouraged her boyfriend, pointing out that his opening night had been a success.
Allie said that she hadn’t even seen a club as nice as Noah’s, even in Los Angeles, and they flirted a bit about Allie’s (likely nonexistent) partying ways. Allie made a reference to Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) and Noah reassured her that she had nothing to worry about over his ex-girlfriend.
Nikki walked in on Noah and Allie kissing, and they talked business a bit. She urged her grandson not to comp so many people from here on. Then, Nikki mentioned that she wanted to know more about Noah’s time in London, and Allie left. Nikki asked her grandson about Private Image Limited with a fund called Wild Beauty Incorporated. Nikki told Noah that it was possibly related to Diane Jenkins’s (Susan Walters) time in Los Angeles.
Noah said the fund had thrown a lot of money around and that Audra had been involved with the fund. Nikki asked if Noah would be willing to tell her what Audra did there, and then he said that his ex returned to Genoa City and came to his club. Ultimately, Noah felt all the coincidences seemed weird to him, and Nikki thought so too.
At Society, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) was preoccupied with his phone when Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) tried to get his attention. She finally touched him, and he looked up. Then, Abby went off about not wanting Tucker to influence Dominic, and Chance thought she was overreacting.
Abby got annoyed that Chance didn’t support her, but he said that they needed to focus on the future and not the past. They argued a bit after Chance said his work and family had to be his top priorities, and Abby snarked about her relief that the family made the top two. He said the order of his words didn’t mean work was more important than family — after all, she should know that family meant most to him. He told her to cool it on worrying about Tucker, and then he left early for a meeting, which further annoyed Abby.
Devon walked in, and they talked about Tucker a bit. Abby apologized for treating Devon’s father poorly, except she wasn’t expecting to change her feelings. Then Devon dropped the bombshell that Tucker planned to put down some roots in Genoa City. Devon said he wasn’t sure how he felt about his dad returning to town, especially after how distant they’d been in recent years. He pointed out that Tucker’s timing seemed suspicious, considering how well Chancellor-Winters had been doing.
Y&R Spoilers Recap: Desperation
Earlier, at Crimson Lights, Chelsea eavesdropped on Billy Abbott and Johnny sharing breakfast. The young man expressed his desire for things to get back to normal, but Billy warned him that he needed to deal with his feelings. Ultimately, Billy let Johnny know they’d be there for him, and his son expressed his desire that they drop the subject since nothing would change anyway. Johnny told his dad that his decision was that nothing at all change or talk about it again, and Chelsea listened with a heartbroken look on her face. Johnny said he was going to Chancellor Park for a school thing.
After she overheard where Johnny was going, Chelsea left the coffee shop to head to Chancellor Park. She found Johnny sitting on a bench in the park and said she hadn’t expected to run into him there. Chelsea tried to talk to him, but Johnny got on his phone and mostly ignored her. She started talking about Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) being his bro…um, cousin. Johnny told her to stop because he knew all about her being his biological mom, but nothing would change.
Chelsea promised Johnny that Victoria was his mom, and she said she’d never force anything on him. She told him that she wanted Johnny to know the truth since they were already in each other’s lives. He figured out that Chelsea is the reason that his parents told him about her, and he was upset. Chelsea said it wasn’t just about her, and she said that she’d hoped that he and Connor could have a closer relationship, and Johnny yelled that they were cousins. He realized Connor knew too and wasn’t excited either, so he told Chelsea they should all pretend nothing had ever happened.
Chance happened upon Chelsea at the park, and he commented on how innocent and carefree all the kids were. She said that the world was a cruel place, and there was no reason to bother trying to make things better. He invited her to go with him to Crimson Lights.
Earlier at Crimson Lights, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) walked in, and Sharon Newman Rosales (Sharon Case) asked if he wanted his usual. They talked a bit about Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), and he reported that nothing had changed with them because Sally wouldn’t take him back. Then, Sharon brought up the conversation she had with Chelsea, and she relayed that Chelsea had scared her.
Sharon didn’t want to break Chelsea’s confidence, but she told Adam that she told Chelsea to get therapy. Then, Sharon suggested that Adam might have more luck getting Chelsea to seek help, but he said he already had and it hadn’t gone well. Adam pointed out her downward spiral, and Sharon agreed she’d seen the same thing with Chelsea. Adam blamed himself for starting her downward descent, but Sharon reminded him that he couldn’t take all the blame. Adam wondered why Chelsea suddenly became obsessed with Johnny.
Sharon warned Adam that Chelsea was adrift, and she said Chelsea was looking around for anybody to make her feel anchored. At this point, Johnny served as Chelsea’s anchor, which Adam said wasn’t fair to the boy. He also felt worried that she was using Connor to get closer to Johnny, and Sharon pointed out that Chelsea wasn’t maliciously doing stuff and instead, she was just trying to stay afloat.
Chance and Chelsea walked in as Adam was walking out. She immediately jumped to the conclusion that Adam, Sharon, and even Chance were conspiring to “help” her, and she melted down.
