The Y&R spoilers recap for Wednesday, October 12, 2022, brings a big move for Elena Dawson as she appears to end things with Nate Hastings and prepares to leave Genoa City.
Nate (Sean Dominic) invited Elena (Brytni Sarpy) into their penthouse, and he made a further plea for her to return to their home. Elena wasn’t convinced, though, especially given Nate continuing with his plan to betray his family. He insisted that Elena should trust him to make the right decision for his career, and he suggested they leave their careers outside of their relationship.

The doorbell rang right after Nate declared his love for Elena. It was Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). She offered to leave, but Elena left instead. Victoria told Nate that if he needed to back out, he should do so now. She suggested that Nate might want to change course since his actions were affecting his relationship with Elena. Nate reassured her, though, and Victoria was relieved. He wondered if she was having second thoughts.
Victoria explained that she felt justified in going after Chancellor-Winters because Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) left her company to her father. Because of that, Victoria said she was simply righting a wrong by bringing the group back into the Newman Enterprises fold.
At Chancellor-Winters, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) had second thoughts about moving forward with the Initial Public Offering, but Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) tiredly reassured him they had all their bases covered.
Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was in Chancellor Park on a bench when Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) walked up. She tried to make nice, but he took her to task for ambushing Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind). Chelsea pretended she bumped into Johnny accidentally, and Billy wasn’t hearing it. However, Chelsea said her biological connection with Johnny deserved to be respected.
Billy noted that they’d all agreed to put Johnny first, and he accused Chelsea of pushing for more and more. Billy said Chelsea freaked out Johnny, and she apologized. Billy suggested that Chelsea was using Johnny to balance things out in her life, and Chelsea went off about Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) accusing her of something similar with Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). Billy firmly told Chelsea that he’d tried to be respectful, but his child was his top priority.
Billy showed up at Chancellor-Winters and left a message for Victoria to call him. He ran into Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) and seemed surprised she was working there now. They walked into Lily’s office, and Esther had her feather duster and let Lily know she’d cleaned some. Billy asked Lily why she hadn’t told him Esther was working there, and she wondered why he even cared. He reminded Lily that he shared his dissatisfaction with his job because he didn’t want to lie to Lily. Billy promised to stick with her until after the IPO. Then, they talked about how great their relationship will be even when they’re not working together, and Lily got Billy to promise to keep his plans to leave quiet for now.
Earlier at Newman Enterprises, Victoria updated Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) on Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) continuing his research into Tucker McCall’s (Trevor St. John) reason for returning. Nick wondered if they really wanted to engage in a battle with Tucker for what Tucker probably considers his birthright. Victoria said she’d bet on Newman Enterprises all day long, and Nick agreed, but he asked his sister to sit back and focus on the other acquisitions. Victoria noted they had to move now, and she told Nick that Lily and Devon planned to push forward their IPO. She later told her brother that Newman would move full speed ahead on the acquisition.
Later, Victoria showed up at the Crimson Lights patio. She sat down with Elena and apologized to her for causing problems with Nate. Elena called out Victoria for not really being sorry. However, Victoria told Elena not to fault Nate for learning to play the game, and Elena felt that Victoria thinking of it all as a game, explained things perfectly.
Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) was hard at work at his club when Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) walked in. They had a gift for him because they missed the opening night, but he wasn’t too enthused. He admitted that his ex-girlfriend, Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) showed up. They were shocked to hear that Audra was there from London. Noah told them that Audra was there to work with Chancellor-Winters, and Mariah felt surprised that Noah believed her.
Mariah declared she didn’t like Audra. However, Tessa tried to talk some sense into everybody by pointing out that Noah had a great club and a lovely girlfriend, so he had nothing to worry about. Mariah expressed her relief that Audra wouldn’t be any trouble for Noah, but he wasn’t so sure. Mariah and Tessa demanded that Noah explain himself, and he noted that Audra tended to spiral emotionally and turned into a spoiled little kid who’d do anything to get what she wanted. Mariah declared that Audra had to go.
At Crimson Lights, Audra ran into Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) and said some low-key snarky things about Noah not having time to spend with her, but Allie impressed upon her how they enjoyed time together during their breaks. Audra grabbed something to drink and insisted on joining Allie. She wanted to know everything about Noah and Allie’s story. Audra gave Allie some warnings about Noah, and Allie said her boyfriend wasn’t anything like the person Audra described. Allie nicely told Audra off, and she thanked Noah’s ex-girlfriend for doing whatever she did to send Noah back to Genoa City. Audra denied she was trying to cause problems.
Allie showed up at The Glam Club, and she could tell Noah, Tessa, and Mariah were talking about his ex-girlfriend. She explained she’d run into her at Crimson Lights. Allie told the whole sordid tale, and Noah apologized. Mariah offered to take Audra out, but Allie said she had it, and that she was through being underestimated, and Noah declared his girlfriend “badass.”
Later, at Chancellor-Winters, Audra showed up to the meeting with Lily, Devon, Billy, and Nate. Audra said they were ready to move forward with the IPO, and Lily gave kudos to Nate for coming up with the idea to speed things up. Devon wasn’t thrilled, and he wondered what Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) and Katherine would’ve thought. Billy suggested they’d both want them to go big, and Devon agreed, but with the caveat that they protected the company. Lily promised they’d structured things in such a way that everything was safe.
Elena burst in, and Nate asked her to wait in the office. Lily told Elena she was the first to know they were finalizing their IPO paperwork, and Devon wanted to know what was wrong. Elena let Nate know that she couldn’t wait to talk. Elena asked Nate to speak alone. He wondered why she didn’t tell everybody his plan, and Elena said she couldn’t do that to him. He wondered why she came there, and Elena admitted she planned to leave Genoa City. She had an interview for a job elsewhere, and Nate was stunned. Despite his asking for one night to fix things, Elena said she was leaving, and she said goodbye.
After Elena left, Nate walked into the meeting and told Devon and Lily he needed to speak with them in private.
