The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, May 23, 2022, brings a big date for Esther Valentine, but Chloe Fisher nearly ruins it. Plus, Summer Newman Abbott and Kyle Abbott worry about Diane Jenkins, Ashland Locke gets threatened by Michael Baldwin and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin, and Victoria Newman prepares to leave with Nikki Newman.
Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) tried to warn her mother about meeting a man from the dating app so soon. However, Esther (Kate Linder) was uninterested in spending a lot of time texting back and forth when he was willing to meet at Chancellor Park as soon as possible.
Esther met Dwight (Sam McMurray) at the park, and he presented her with a bouquet of flowers. It appeared as if Chloe’s concerns were completely unfounded. However, Dwight seemed alarmed to notice somebody spying on them. Turns out, Chloe tried unsuccessfully to sneakily check out her mom at her meeting. Esther was embarrassed by her daughter’s actions, but Dwight appreciated that Esther had a daughter who cared so much about her safety.
Interestingly, they had plenty in common because of their professions — he sells her favorite cleaning products! After the meeting, Chloe and Esther met back up on the patio at Crimson Lights for the postmortem.
Also at the park, Diane (Susan Walters) ended up meeting Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez), which neither Kyle (Michael Mealor) nor Summer (Allison Lanier) appreciated. That caused them to discuss whether or not they wanted to stay in Genoa City.
Later, at Crimson Lights, they ran into Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). Summer and Chelsea had a productive conversation about business, and Connor went over to play with his step-cousin. After talking with Chelsea, Summer told Kyle he should only accept Diane back into his life for himself and nobody else. Kyle admitted he realized that Summer didn’t want him to accept Diane, but she said she’d support him no matter what.
At Society, Ashland (Robert Newman) was eating when Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) came in. They verbally sparred, and then Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) came in and gave Ashland a huge piece of his mind. After Ashland left, she went off on her husband about sticking with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), but Michael stood his ground while proclaiming his love for Lauren.
Ashland left, and he ended up at the park. He ran into Diane for the first time, and they introduced themselves. Ashland wondered if the two town pariahs may have more in common than just being connected to Harrison.
Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) wrapped things up before getting packed for their upcoming trip. When Michael stopped by the office, Victoria wondered if her dad and the lawyer were cooking up schemes against Ashland. They assured her they were not, but of course, they were lying.
Michael laid out a plan for overwhelming Ashland with legal proceedings, but Victor accused his lawyer of playing it too safe. Ultimately, Michael told Victor that Harrison was Ashland’s Achilles heel, and Victor believed him. Perhaps the little boy will be the key to getting Ashland to finally leave Genoa City.
