The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, June 20, 2022, brings a mother-son talk for Jill Foster Abbott Atkinson and Billy Abbott. Plus, Diane Jenkins makes a big ask of Kyle Abbott, Nikki Newman learns stunning news about Michael Baldwin, Summer Newman Abbott tries to broker peace for her mom, and tensions rise at Chancellor-Winters.
Billy (Jason Thompson) has every single reason in the world to be happy, and yet, he’s not. Jill (Jess Walton) called her son out on that, and then she promised mother-son privilege when Billy opened up to her. While they didn’t get to the bottom of his feelings, she did reveal that she listened to his podcasts.
Jill told Billy that she felt so proud of him and how real he was during the recordings. Of course, being that way might be ripping some scabs off of deep wounds he’s worked on healing. Perhaps that’s why he’s still not quite happy. No matter what, Jill admonished Billy to not screw things up with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), and he promised he wouldn’t. It wasn’t clear if Jill’s concern was personal or professional — perhaps a bit of both.
Later, Billy met with Lily, and he mentioned seeing his mother and how happy Jill was with things. Of course, he spilled a bit too much info, so he started to share what they discussed, but Lily got an emergency that interrupted his full disclosure.
Speaking of Lily, before that, she worked hard to keep the peace at Chancellor-Winters. Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) started things off by making a joke that went entirely over Lily’s head. The tension ran high between Devon and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), especially when Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) had a subtle dig at Devon. Ultimately, Lily thanked them all for a job well done.
Imani followed Nate to Crimson Lights, and he gave her a big what-for on trying to stir up trouble with Devon. Even so, she continued voicing her opinion and supporting Nate.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) couldn’t believe her ears when she learned that Michael (Christian Le Blanc) befriended Diane (Susan Walters). Lauren (Tracey Bregman) sided with Nikki. Nikki wanted to know why Michael protected Diane. Ultimately, Michael agreed to do a deep dive into Diane simply to prove the naysayers wrong. Nikki wondered what Michael would do if his investigation turned up information that Diane has nefarious intentions.
Elsewhere, Summer (Allison Lanier) met with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) about what happened between Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Later, the two met with Lauren to discuss how to broker peace between Phyllis and Diane. Lauren didn’t hold out much hope, but she listened and gave Summer some advice. Ultimately, though, Lauren warned the younger woman that she might end up having to take a side.
Finally, Kyle (Michael Mealor) invited Diane along to watch Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) play at Chancellor Park. She asked him to help her find a job. Kyle warned Diane that it wouldn’t be easy, and then they discussed possibilities. It turns out that Diane wanted to be in public relations and had already taken some classes. Kyle couldn’t promise that he could get Diane a job at Jabot, but he promised to try to help.
Later, at home, Kyle got upset when Summer told him that Nikki wanted to try to run Diane out of town. He wished everybody would leave his mother alone and let bygones be bygones.
