The Y&R spoilers recap for Wednesday, June 15, 2022, brings a big moment for Chancellor-Winters, but Nate Hastings went off script, leaving a bad taste in Devon Hamilton’s mouth even though Lily Winters ended up liking what their cousin did. Plus, Adam Newman got the news he’d become CEO of Newman Enterprises and Jack Abbott spent more time with Diane Jenkins.
Lily (Christel Khalil) introduced her and Devon’s (Bryton James) merged company to the world. After she and Devon spoke, reporters had lots of questions, which they didn’t answer. However, Nate (Sean Dominic) decided to give them a preview, which of course, made them hungry for more.
As is his usual reaction, Devon felt irked by Nate’s overstepping. However, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Lily talked to some investors that were even more gung-ho after hearing what Nate said. It seems that Devon was outnumbered in that department.
Of course, Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) loved seeing Nate step up and say what he wanted, and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) once again took her sister to task over her relentless pursuit of Nate. Imani was so obvious and Jill Foster Abbott Atkinson (Jess Walton) immediately caught on. She thought Nate needed to watch out, which probably doesn’t bode well for him and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy). Still, at the end of the evening, Nate went home and ended up waking a sleeping Elena, whose surprise extra shift apparently started and ended within the time it took to have the party.
Speaking of relentless, Diane (Susan Walters) continued her relentless pursuit of staying in Genoa City despite being clearly unwanted by most. This time, Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) let Diane know she wasn’t wanted at the party, which Abby inexplicably hosted in Phyllis Summers’s (Michelle Stafford) absence. Later, Abby and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) shared a moment together after he returned from working.
Diane ended up going to Society, and she asked Jack to meet her. They talked, and he left her feeling relieved by mentioning that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) still seemed interested in getting to know her more. Of course, then Diane overstepped by trying to get more information about his and Phyllis’s relationship, but Jack shut her down entirely. Still, they seemed to be growing closer even though Jack remained wary of her motives.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) congratulated Devon and Lily. Nikki even gave Lily high praise by stating that she followed in Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) footsteps by being a woman of vision who wasn’t afraid to move forward with new ideas. That left Lily touched. Of course, Victor still told the competition it better stay sharp.
Finally, Adam (Mark Grossman) attended the party alone after Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) had to stay behind to deal with a last-minute technical issue. At the party, Victor delighted Adam by revealing he planned to announce that Adam would take the reins as CEO of Newman Enterprises. Little did Adam know that, once again, he’s just a pawn in Victor’s game.
Later, Adam verbally sparred with Billy a bit and dropped the news that he’d be heading up the whole company by the next morning. Finally, he took champagne back to Newman Media and told an ecstatic Sally the good news, which included Victor wanting her raised to being the head of Newman Media, and they celebrated.
