The Y&R spoilers recap for Thursday, July 28, 2022, brings news of Ashland Locke’s death, and Chance Chancellor has answers…and questions for Victor Newman. Meanwhile, Phyllis Summers proposes she work with Summer Newman Abbott, and then Nick Newman crashes their evening with bad news, while Sally Spectra gets good advice from Chloe Mitchell Fisher.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Well, Ashland (Robert Newman) is dead. Chance (Conner Floyd) showed up at Newman Enterprises and confirmed it. It didn’t seem quite like he planned to merely write the whole thing off as an accident, though like his father-in-law Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) seemed to hope. He had plenty of questions about Victor’s security team, and The Mustache remained a bit cagey, as Micahel Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) subtly reminded everyone he was there as counsel.

Once Chance left, Nick (Joshua Morrow) wondered if Ashland had really died in his vehicle, and Victor assured his son he did. Nick didn’t quite buy it, but he didn’t seem too keen on admitting he’d killed Ashland either.
Young and the Restless: Don’t Throw It All Away
Before he went to Newman Enterprises, Nick talked to Sally (Courtney Hope) briefly at Crimson Lights. He yelled at her when she said she planned to resign as CEO of Newman Media. He claimed she’d be the latest in a long line of women he’d seen throw their lives away over Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Sally later talked with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), and she had similar advice. Ultimately, Sally took Chloe and Nick’s advice to heart, and she decided to stick with her job, which of course made Chloe happy.
Y&R Spoilers Recap: Bright Side
As for Nick, he showed up at Society, interrupting Summer (Allison Lanier) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) at dinner. He bluntly told them Ashland was dead, which led to Summer leaving in tears to tell Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) the news. Then, Phyllis said what most people thought — that there was a bright side to Ashland dying. Nobody ever had to deal with him again, as she was obviously wishing the same fate for Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters).
Before Nick arrived with the shocking news. Phyllis had enacted a part of the plan she’d created with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) to bring down Diane. Of course, she lied to Summer and said the whole thing had absolutely nothing to do with her nemesis.
Phyllis declared she wanted to work with her daughter at Marchetti. They’d have such fun jet-setting all over the world and going to fashion shows. What could be more fun? And Diane Schmiane? No way any of this was about her. Duh…why would Phyllis care about Diane? Why wouldn’t Summer shut up about Diane? Sure, Phyllis.
