The Y&R spoilers recap for Friday, July 15, 2022, brings a shocking move as Diane Jenkins rats out Ashland Locke to the Newmans and the Abbotts when he visits Harrison Locke at Chancellor Park. Plus, Billy Abbott blows off Lily Winters for Chelsea Lawson, and Imani Benedict leans on Nate Hastings.
It’s no crime to hang out in Chancellor Park. At least that’s the conclusion that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Ashland (Robert Newman) arrived at. Of course, they couldn’t help getting in some digs at each other — Phyllis noted that Ashland is like a caged animal while Ashland noted that Phyllis is a hypocrite with plenty of misdeeds in her past.
Later after Phyllis left, Harrison (Kellen Enriquez) spotted his father and ran over to Ashland. Diane (Susan Walters) didn’t put a stop to it. Instead, she offered to get Italian ice for her grandson while Ashland chatted with him on the bench.
Meanwhile, at Society, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) read Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) the riot act over Diane while he pointed out that everybody needs forgiveness. Then, he received a message from Diane that Ashland was with Harrison in the park, so he and Nikki hightailed it over there.
A nervous Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) met with Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) at the rooftop bar (so that’s where it finally is!!!!), and she crushed their hope of her designing for Marchetti. Then, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) showed up, and they chatted with him revealing he’s Team Diane for a bit. However, once Kyle got Michael’s text about Ashland and Harrison, Summer and Kyle left in a huge hurry.
Both Chelsea and Billy ended up going to the podcast studio, and he liked her idea that they let their audience live vicariously through their pasts as a gambling addict and a con artist. Billy even ended up blowing off Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and his Chief Operating Officer job to get the podcast recorded, which can’t be a great sign for his relationship or his other job.
Speaking of Lily, before she called Billy and he blew her off, she met with Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) in her office. Imani let her know all about her mother, and Lily reminded the lawyer that Chancellor-Winters is a family-first company. Then, Nate (Sean Dominic) showed up, and Imani praised him for how much he’d helped her the night before when he stayed after Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) supposedly blew off their business meeting.
Later, Imani was at Crimson Lights, and she’d been on the phone with her family. They’d decided to send her mother to an in-patient facility out of state that Nate had suggested. He walked up, and she ended up crying and leaning into him for a hug. It seems like they’re growing closer while Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) is in Hawaii.
At Chancellor Park, Nikki and Michael showed up, and Ashland saw them. He tried to leave, realizing that Diane must have tipped them off. However, Kyle and Summer arrived, and Kyle stopped Ashland from leaving. It looked like he wasn’t going to get out of breaking the restraining order that easily.
