The Y&R spoilers recap for Thursday, April 21, 2022, brings heart-shattering news for Sharon Rosales as Nick Newman relays what happened to Rey Rosales. Plus, Victoria Newman Locke admits that Ashland Locke saved her life.
Everybody at Crimson Lights was on edge, worrying about where Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) was. Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) kept Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) entertained with tales of past hockey games while Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) tried not to panic.
Then, Sharon confronted Chelsea about her feelings for Rey, but Chelsea denied them. Chance got a call, so he had to go to work, and he left without saying what had happened.
Later, Sharon gave Connor a new cookie Crimson Lights was trying out, and he remembered how Rey said he needed to try two before he knew if he liked them, and Sharon promised to talk to Detective Rosales about that tip. Finally, Chelsea gathered up Connor, and they left with Chelsea proclaiming that Rey would owe the little boy a raincheck. Sharon finally closed up Crimson Lights, and she left yet another message for Rey, asking him to call her.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tried to distract Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) with some dessert, but she wasn’t buying it. Then, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) called, and he let Victor know that the accident involved three cars, including Victoria. They both felt that the fact that Victoria wasn’t there was positive. Of course, there was the minor detail that Ashland was part of it too.
Then, Nick gave his dad the news that Rey was in the third car, and he didn’t make it. Nick lamented how painful it’d be for Sharon, Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster), Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela), and Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle). Victor promised to help and he and Nikki took off to find Victoria.
Ashland (Robert Newman) worked to convince a distraught Victoria (Amelia Heinle) that Rey was dead and beyond hope. She continued insisting her lying liar of a husband was wrong, but in this instance, he wasn’t lying.
After Victoria gave up the idea of going to get help, she reminded Ashland how the real Ashland Locke died in a car crash, and then she asked him why he couldn’t just let her go. Again, Ashland proclaimed his love for his wife. Victoria didn’t believe it, though, considering he’d taken the deal Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) offered. Although Ashland continued insisting that his following Victoria wasn’t calculated, she still didn’t believe him.
Finally, Nikki found the shelter, and she and Victor came in to help Victoria. When Ashland spoke up, Victor warned if he had a question for Ashland, he’d ask it. She asked about Rey, but her parents didn’t want to tell her how he was, so she set her foot down. They finally admitted that Rey was dead, and then Victoria revealed that Ashland saved her life.
Nick and Chance talked at the crash site, and Chance said he hadn’t mentioned anything to Sharon when he left Crimson Lights. Chance suggested that Nick give Sharon the heartbreaking news since he needed to stay at the crash site. Chance promised to find and help Victoria and let Nick know if and when he found Ashland too.
Nick showed up at Crimson Lights as Sharon was cleaning and waiting for Rey. He tried to break the news to her gently, but there was no way to do that. She suspected what he would say and tried to delay the inevitable. Finally, Nick told Sharon Rey had died in the car wreck, and then he held her as she sobbed.
