The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, October 4, 2023, brings Mamie unveiling her plans for her family.
Also in this episode, Lily, Devon, Nate, Abby, and Victoria gathered at the jazz lounge to meet with Mamie and Jill showed up. Sally confronted Adam, while Nick got some advice from Sharon. Now let’s dig deeper into what went down.
At Crimson Lights, Sharon (Sharon Case) realized that something was wrong with Nick (Joshua Morrow). He didn’t want to talk about it, but she urged him to open up. Finally, Nick revealed that Adam had kissed Sally. She wondered what Nick would do, and he said he wasn’t planning to confront his brother. Instead, Nick wanted to focus on work and not think about Adam.
Sharon gave Nick kudos for not confronting his brother, and she said that the whole thing didn’t really matter unless it stirred something in Sally. Nick admitted that Sally might have felt something, but he wanted to focus on work. He thanked Sharon for being rational and talking him down.

Adam (Mark Grossman) pressured Sally (Courtney Hope) to tell him why Nick was so mad. Sally drank while she demanded that Adam stop asking questions. Adam insisted he was trying to rectify things with his family, but Sally called him out on lying about that, pointing out that he couldn’t actually change.
Sally’s words hurt Adam because he thought they were in a better place, but she said he’d ruined it by kissing her. She called him out for his impulsive moment, and Adam realized that Sally’s reaction to the kiss was what bothered her. Sally claimed Adam twisted things to be what he wanted them to be. “There is no us,” she declared.
Ultimately, Sally told him she’d told Nick about the kiss. Adam insisted that Nick wouldn’t be so upset except that it had to have triggered something in her. Sally yelled at Adam to stay out of her life and her head.
Sally left, and she went upstairs to her room. She paced as she remembered her and Nick’s argument over Adam. She called Nick, and he answered, telling her he was working with Sharon. Sally wanted to talk things out, and he agreed to talk, so he left.
Nick walked into the GCAC, and he saw Adam at the bar. Nick walked up to his brother and told him to leave Sally alone. Adam took responsibility and sincerely apologized. Upstairs, Nick let Sally know what happened with Adam.
Of course, Nick assumed his brother was playing mind games. Sally said the only thing she cared about was if they were okay or not. Nick said he wanted the truth from her about how she felt, and Sally tearfully said, “The truth is that I’m falling in love with you, too.”
Adam showed up at Crimson Lights, asking if he could help Sharon with anything. She asked him why he felt he had to mess things up for everyone. Adam said that Nick was fooling himself about Sally because she was still in love with him and not Nick.
Devon (Bryton James) asked Abby (Melissa Ordway) to join him in meeting Mamie (Veronica Redd) at the jazz club.
Lily (Christel Khalil) invited Daniel (Michael Graziadei) to be her date to meet Aunt Mamie at the jazz lounge, but he declined.
Nate (Sean Dominic) asked Victoria (Amelia Heinle) to meet Aunt Mamie at the jazz lounge, and she wondered if he planned to go to war with Devon and Lily again. Victoria thought her attending with him would cause issues with his family, but Nate promised it wouldn’t happen. In fact, he hoped to mend fences with his cousins.
At the jazz club, Jack (Peter Bergman) tried to get Mamie to tell him what she is doing. However, she said she had to take “certain steps” to help develop a relationship with Lily, Devon, and Nate. She revealed she bought a major stake in Chancellor-Winters, and Jack was thrilled to hear her investments had panned out so well. She credited it all to learning from John Abbott.
Of course, Jack worried that Jill might prove to be a major roadblock to Mamie’s plans. Mamie didn’t think Jill should be upset, but Jack warned her that Jill wasn’t always logical.
Mamie greeted Lily, and when Victoria arrived with Nate, the older woman complimented her, welcoming her and Nate graciously. Lily flashed back to a previous argument with Nate over him dating Victoria.
When everyone gathered, Mamie thanked them for coming and teared up as she talked about Neil and her beautiful family. She let them know their recent arguments broke her heart, Olivia’s heart, and she didn’t doubt that Neil and Drucila were also looking down with broken hearts. Mamie declared she’d returned to whip them all into shape to make the family a powerhouse again.
Mamie said she knew she couldn’t unify the family from a distance, so she purchased a substantial share in Chancellor-Winters. She planned to be strongly connected to the future that Lily and Devon were building, honoring Katherine and Neil.
Mamie had some words for Nate. She let him know that she wanted to lure him away from Newman Enterprises. Lily took exception to her aunt’s words. However, Mamie said she wanted to leave the past in the past and move forward. Lily wanted to know her aunt’s intentions at Chancellor-Winters, and Jill (Jess Walton) walked in, wanting to know, too.
