Y&R Recap For October 28: Chelsea Wants To Make The Pain End

Today’s episode features Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) enjoying a child-free Halloween after Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) shared a surprisingly cordial moment over Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and Johnny Abbott’s (Paxton Mishkind) holiday plans. Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) noticed Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) frustration with her husband’s constant working, and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) stepped close to the edge — literally. Young and the Restless: A New Plan

Billy sat with Chelsea in the park, and he expressed his surprise that she was so on board with Victoria’s boundaries with Johnny. Chelsea tortured herself with worries about how hurt Johnny is over learning she was his biological mom, and she wished that she could turn back the clock to undo the mistake of telling him.

Billy reminded Chelsea that he and Victoria had agreed to tell him, but she reminded Billy that Victoria knew. Chelsea expressed that seeing Johnny’s reaction to her was a real wake-up call, and she said she’d take his cues from now on. She told Billy everything very logically, but he worried about her emotions, and he warned her not to set her expectations for the future too high.

Johnny and Connor met up in Crimson Lights, and they talked about Chelsea. Connor told his cousin/brother that his mom isn’t acting right lately. When Victoria walked in, Johnny worriedly asked her what happened with Chelsea, but Victoria told him not to worry, and she deflected talk to Halloween.

Adam sent the kids away, so he could talk to Victoria. She complained that Chelsea doesn’t know when to quit. The Newman siblings seemed to bond over discussing the distress that both their sons felt over Johnny learning that Chelsea was his biological mother. Adam understood his sister as a parent, but Adam also asked Victoria to try to be careful with Chelsea. However, Victoria wasn’t willing to do that.

The boys sat together at a table and bonded. They agreed things were weird — were they cousins or brothers? Connor said he wanted things to stay as is, and Johnny agreed. Instead of going to Katie’s party, Johnny asked if he could go with Connor to his friend’s house again. When Adam and Victoria went back to the boys, they ambushed them about the Halloween party. Victoria needed more information, and Adam happily supplied it, which led her to say yes, making the boys happy.

Billy happened to walk in right as Adam and Victoria smiled at each other, and he declared it the scariest thing he’d see all Halloween. Victoria told Billy that she and Adam shared a nice moment over their boys and shut down Billy’s snark. Adam left, and then Billy updated Victoria that Chelsea accepted the boundaries she set, which surprised Victoria. Billy warned his ex-wife that something was off with Chelsea, though. Talk turned to Delia, and Billy noted that he missed his daughter, especially on what was her favorite holiday.

Back in her hotel room, Chelsea sobbed as she remembered all the difficult things people had said in recent weeks. Adam stopped by, and he let Chelsea know that Connor and Johnny were spending the evening together, which made her happy. She seemed confused about why he was there, and Adam asked her to go for a drink.

Y&R Recap: On The Edge

At Society, Devon and Lily ran into Abby, and she wasn’t too thrilled that Chance had to be on a stakeout instead of celebrating Halloween with her and Dominic. After Abby walked away, Devon expressed his concern over the state of Chance and Abby’s marriage. Lily wondered why her brother was worried about Abby and Chance, and he pointed out that Chance works a lot and that the couple’s schedules don’t line up. Chance even had to leave while taking pictures of Dominic, and he could tell Abby resented it.

Lily changed the subject by dropping the bombshell that Billy planned to resign from Chancellor-Winters, and Devon couldn’t believe he’d leave at this terrible time. Lily explained that Chancellor-Winters was her dream and not Billy’s, and she seemed reasonably resigned to Billy pursuing his own passion. Devon pointed out that losing both Chief Operating Officers in a couple of weeks looked bad. Lily admitted that she had her personal relationship to consider, and Devon wondered if she’d do things differently if Billy wasn’t her boyfriend.

Ultimately, Lily admitted that things not working out at work with Billy hurt her, but she declared it best for her relationship. Lily turned the talk to Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), and she suggested that Devon go to be with his girlfriend. He admitted that their relationship had been strained, and Lily offered to hold down the fort so that her brother could go be with Amanda.

Abby walked out and sat at the bar to catch up with Devon. He offered some time to chat, and he told Abby she needed to be honest about what was really bugging her.

Lily showed up at Crimson Lights just as Victoria was leaving after a text from Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), and she made plans with Billy to go to Glam Club to celebrate the holiday. Billy and Lily walked into the club right about the time Adam showed up with Chelsea. Lily noticed that Billy seemed concerned about Chelsea, and he said he didn’t think the woman should be spending time with Adam.

Meanwhile, Chelsea updated Adam on her big step of realizing that she’d made a mistake telling Johnny the truth. Adam expressed his happiness, and then he broached the possibility of Chelsea seeing a therapist. She admitted that she needed help ending the cycle of anxiety and depression she was caught up in. As Adam talked on, Chelsea zoned out and started hearing all the things people had said again. She excused herself to go to the restroom, and Billy noticed, looking worried as he danced with Lily.

Chelsea ended up on the roof at The Grand Phoenix, and she just wanted to make the pain stop. She walked to the edge and looked over at the cars below.
