The Y&R recap for Wednesday, December 28, 2022, brings a new level to the Newman family feud, Sally Spectra trying to reason away a mystery illness, and Diane Jenkins throwing herself into a dangerous situation.
Y&R Recap Highlights
Victor (Eric Braeden) went at his son and coddled his daughter, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) went to bat more than once over his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) started to question why she was ill. At the same time, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) put her plan into action despite Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) objections, while Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) faced her disappointed mother. Let’s take a deeper look into what happened.
Y&R Recap: Matters Of The Heart
Nick and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) were chatting about the great times had by the children at Christmas before a mopey Victor interrupted their laughs. He told the pair he ran into Adam who was just as sullen as always. Victoria wasn’t surprised but Victor was holding out hope to reconcile.
Victor then accused Nick of stirring the pot by dating Sally. Why is he always chasing Adam’s women? Nick took issue with that, of course. Yes, he and Adam are rivals but Adam is the problem, not him. However, Victoria agreed with their dad. Sally wasn’t good for him and that romance was nothing but trouble. Of course, Nick went full-on teen angst and vowed to spend even more time with Sally to spite them both.

Nick stormed out and Victor asked how the takeover of Chancellor-Winters is going. Victoria said it was falling apart. He advised Victoria to let it go. He even praised his daughter for all her hard work. Just look at all she’s accomplished.
Young and the Restless: A Pregnant Pause?
Over at Crimson Lights, Sally flashed back to exchanging gifts with Nick…until Adam came along. He asked to keep her company and she decided to be generous and let him sit down. Adam noted Sally was drinking herbal tea and she said caffeine was making her jittery.
Talk turned from Sally breaking her caffeine addiction to business and within minutes, Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) showed up. Chloe once again tried to warn her friend away from that monster. As they started to work, Sally got nauseated and ran to the washroom. After she got back to the table, Chloe drilled her about her illness before implying she may be pregnant. Her reaction told Chloe all she needed to know so Chloe dropped it. Sally went home to look through her calendar and dig for important dates.
Later, Nick accidentally ran into Adam at Society and they tried to make small talk. Eventually, the conversation turned to Victor and Nick even threw some compliments Adam’s way. Adam took it to mean Victor wanted Nick to cut Sally loose. He wasn’t wrong. Adam agreed with their dad (surprise!)….no one would love Sally as much as he does – he even proposed for crying out loud! Nick pointedly told Adam none of that mattered to him. He likes Sally and is going to keep dating her. And he did, by showing up at her hotel room while Adam moped at the park.
Y&R Recap: Tricky Trickery
Meanwhile, at Society, Summer met up with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and said sorry for not seeing her over the holidays. Phyllis tried to be upbeat as she told Summer about Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) coming to town and about Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Graziadei) job offer. Summer was happy for her. Phyllis then hinted she’d rather get her old job back.
Summer conceded things weren’t good between them and it all spiraled, but what is she to do? Firing her mom was hard but necessary and she was sticking with that decision. On the upside, Phyllis working with Daniel sounds like a dream come true and she pushed her mom to dive in head first. Phyllis told Summer she broke her heart.
At the Abbott mansion, Jack was flabbergasted to find Diane home and asked why she made that decision. She explained she couldn’t stay in hiding. They needed to get the upper hand on Jeremy Stark (James Hyde). Kyle and Diane explained their plan to make Jeremy come to her. Jack didn’t like that. It was too dangerous. Diane was sure she could handle it, though.
As for Jeremy, he was at the hotel counting his cash and pondering taking it. Before he knew it, Diane called and started sweet talking him. She asked to see him in person – in public – at Society so they could talk this out. He was all for it so off she went to see him. The pair took a table while Jack secretly looked on.
