The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, August 31, 2023, brings yet another declaration of war after Victor kicks Adam to the curb.

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Nick, Sharon, and Adam daydreamed about what they really wanted to see happen. Sharon declared she’ll fight Victor in court for Kirsten Incorporated. Victor shocked Nikki by offering her a new position. Now let’s dig deeper into what went down.

Young and the Restless: Daydreams

Adam (Mark Grossman), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Sharon (Sharon Case) met with Victor (Eric Braeden) at the ranch. Victor planned to tell the three his plans for SNA Media.

Adam had a daydream where Victor had named him CEO of Newman Media and Sally (Courtney Hope) as his Chief Operating Officer, but of course, that wasn’t what happened. Next, Sharon had a daydream where Adam actually admitted that she and Nick were right, and he apologized for everything — truly turning over a new leaf.

Ultimately, after her daydream, Sharon told Victor that she wasn’t going to let him keep Kirsten. He insisted that it was just business, but she promised to get a lawyer to get back the company, which was the only good thing that came from what happened with Cameron.

Sharon left, and Nick and Adam snarked for a bit. Victor asked that Nick give them his vision for the company, and Nick daydreamed a bit, where he refused to give his thoughts.

Young and the Restless Recap: Surprise

When Nick came out of his daydream, Victor still wanted to know what Nick saw for the future of the company. Ultimately, Nick said Victor should give the company back to Sharon, but Victor said it wouldn’t happen.

Adam got some shots in about his brother being better off in nonprofits than business. In the end, Nick demanded Victor tell them what he had planned. Adam also wanted to know. However, Victor said he needed Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) opinion as she walked in.

Nikki took both Nick and Adam to task for the drama they’d caused Victor. She called Adam entitled and told him to grow up. Nikki was downright nasty in mocking her stepson. She also saved some straight talk for Nick. Nikki insisted that her son make a decision and be committed instead of always having one foot out the door.

Finally, Nikki turned to Victor and told him that she would be furious if he put Adam in charge. She insisted that her husband had to stop giving Adam opportunity after opportunity. Victor announced he wouldn’t put Adam in charge, so Adam automatically assumed that Nick would be in charge. However, Victor shocked everyone by naming Nikki CEO of Newman Media with Audra (Zuleyka Silver) as her COO. Nick would return to Newman Enterprises to be co-CEO with Victoria.

Y&R Recap: This Is War

Not surprisingly, Adam wasn’t pleased to be the odd man out. Victor didn’t back down, though. He yelled at Adam for acting like a child. Adam didn’t appreciate that his dad had humiliated him, though, in front of everyone.

Adam declared Victor would regret it, and he told his son not to make idle threats. However, Adam assured his dad it was a real threat and stomped out. Nikki wasn’t thrilled that Victor hadn’t asked her about becoming CEO, and she worried about what Victoria would think. She insisted she think about it, and Nick also said he had to speak with Victoria before committing.

Nick left, and Victor wondered if Nikki was upset with him. She said she just needed to think about it, and she wished that Katherine were still there to consult with.

At Crimson Lights, Sharon called Michael and left him a message to represent her. Nick walked in, wondering if she would really take it to court, and Sharon said she would. Nick updated her that Victor had kicked Adam to the curb.

Back at the ranch, Victor sat staring at Adam’s photo with a tear in his eye. Meanwhile, back at his place, Adam had a drink and vowed to bring a war to his dad. Later, Victor sat exhausted looking in front of his punching bag, stood up, declared no one had defeated him, and started punching.
