The Young and the Restless recaps for January 9 – January 13, 2023, featured close calls, widening estrangements, a rousing game of musical careers, and more.
Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) learned about Audra Charles’s (Zuleyka Silver) connection to Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John); he rats her out to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) who in turn hands Audra her walking papers. Unaware of the circumstances related to her departing Chancellor-Winters, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) gauges Audra’s interest in coming aboard Newman Media as his COO.
Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) takes Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to task for his continued devotion to Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). Afterward, Diane seeks refuge with Tucker. The duo makes love…Daniel Romalotti (Michael Grazaidei) confides to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) that Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) is a supporter rather than a detractor. Phyllis arrives at the Abbott abode and catches sight of Jack and Diane kissing.
Ashley finds proof positive that Tucker was sizing Jabot up for a hostile takeover. Devon blasts Tucker for his subterfuge and orders him to keep his distance moving forward…Tucker approaches Phyllis and wonders if she’s ready to, “burn it all down.”
Phyllis encourages Tucker to make amends while he still has the chance…Ashley overhears Tucker singing her praises to Jack. Later, Ashley informs Abby Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway) that she’s leaving town…Devon contacts Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) and proposes disentangling Hamilton-Winters from Chancellor Industries. When Jill balks, Devon threatens to vocalize his opposition to the IPO.
Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) sits on Audra’s preliminary interview with Nate; she’s suitably impressed. Nate officially hires Audra…Phyllis and Summer reconcile…Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) demands that Diane prove her loyalty to him sooner rather than later. Jack suggests that he procure something of Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) to solidify Diane’s ruse.
Abby happens upon Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) merrily discussing their supper club and seems to take exception. During a private confab, Abby floats the idea of her and Dominic moving out of the Chancellor’s manse, but Chance won’t hear of it. However, he does object to all the time that Abby is spending with Devon. Chance wonders to Sharon whether or not it was his commitment to the job that ruined his marriage.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tries to suss out exactly what’s troubling Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) puts Victor on notice. As a result, Victor decides to undermine Adam and drive him to his rock bottom — all in the hopes of convincing him to return to the family fold…Lily gives Devon hell, then permanently severs ties with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Dejected, Billy heads for Chelsea’s apartment.
Billy and Chelsea concede that the world is better for having them in it…Lily and Daniel commiserate…Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) finds himself unable to clarify his and Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) relationship to Noah Newman’s (Rory Gibson) satisfaction…Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) called on Sally, prenatal vitamins in hand, but was rebuked — Sally has no interest in dwelling on her condition, nor does she plan on telling Nicholas about it anytime soon. Nicholas and Sally meet for dinner, and he proposes ordering champagne. Having been warned against alcohol, Sally hesitates.
Kyle worries that Diane is deriving a thrill from her scheme to lull Jeremy into a false sense of security; Diane denies the charge… Tucker learns from Kyle that Ashley is bound for Pairs. Tucker is unsuccessful in convincing Ashley to remain in Genoa City…Phyllis observes Diane and Jeremy in deep conversation and alerts Nikki.
Nicholas gives Sally tips on how to best impress Jill. Nicholas and Sally retire to Sally’s suite and the latter narrowly prevents the former from spying her bottle of prenatal vitamins…Victor hinted to Kyle that he’s interested in sabotaging Adam’s efforts at Jabot…Nate interrupts a set-to between Audra and Tucker. Audra cops to her and Tucker’s partnership.
