The Young and the Restless recaps for May 16 – May 20, 2022, feature a reminder that love is love and should be celebrated, that some mothers really shouldn’t parent, and that you should never say never when it comes to reuniting with an old flame.
It’s the day of Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) wedding… Much hoopla is made over Tessa’s late-to-arrive gown… Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) makes it clear to Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) that she’s not the reason he’s sticking around… Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) agrees to attend the nuptials with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
Mariah and Tessa exchange vows and Kyle declares them married… Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) settles herself in at the Abbott manse and convinces Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) to join her at the wedding reception.
Phyllis catches sight of Diane and lets Jack know that his ex has infiltrated the do; Diane spies on Kyle and Summer. When confronted by her son, Diane begs to be reintroduced to her daughter-in-law… Kevin toasts the brides.
Summer agrees to Diane’s request for a face-to-face. Afterward, she tells Phyllis that she wasn’t the least bit impressed by Diane’s claim of self-reinvention… Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and Allie make each other’s acquaintance. Noah is seemingly smitten; Allie not so much… Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) surprise the brides with a most generous gift – a honeymoon in Paris!
After a few false starts – it’s first caught by Chloe, and then by Abby Carlton Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) – the bridal bouquet is awarded to Jack; he jokes that his next wedding will be the charm… Nick escorts Sharon back to her abode… The brides retire to their apartment; it’s been beautifully and thoughtfully decorated by Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster)… Phyllis evicts Diane from The Grand Phoenix.
Jack walks Phyllis back to her suite. She invites him in, and they make love… Mariah is taken aback when Tessa alludes to wanting more than one child. They agree it might not be such a crazy idea.
Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) reminded Diane that patience is a virtue… Noah offered Allie some sage wisdom… Summer floats an idea by Kyle in which Jabot acquires a cash-strapped Marchetti and they run the enterprise from Genoa City.
Kyle and Summer update Jack – they’re staying put in GC; Jack fills them in on Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) duplicity. When Ashland later presses the pair for alone time with Harrison, they deny him the privilege… Chole assists Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) in zhuzhing up her online dating profile.
Phyllis and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) agree to join forces so that they might protect Kyle – and Jack – from Diane’s influence. Phyllis takes Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) into her confidence.
Allie learns that she’s passed her college finals with flying colors; she debates her future… Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), overwhelmed with memories of happier times with Ashland, agrees with Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) suggestion that they head off on a mother/daughter vacay.
