The Young and the Restless recaps for September 20 – September 24, 2021, feature many in Genoa City out to uncover a rich man’s true identity, a grieving surrogate deciding her girlfriend’s future for her, and so much more.
Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) bid baby Dominic adieu, then left the Chancellor mansion alongside Tessa Porter (Kait Fairbanks); they check into a room at The Grand Phoenix…Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) met with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) to discuss her mother’s recent diagnosis; he recommends several top-class physicians and helped alleviate some of Amanda’s fears.
Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) gently prods Connor (Judah Mackey) into apologizing to Sharon Rosales (Sharon Chase) for his earlier outburst; he does so, and he and Sharon reconcile. Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) arrives, and Sharon is put out by her and Connor’s easy rapport. Later, Sharon tells Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) she’s worried that Sally will make a play for Adam.
Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) debate over how to best be there for Mariah…Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) was put out by the praise Sally heaped upon “single dad” Adam; she’s later surprised to hear Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) say she’s grateful for Sally’s intervening during Connor’s tantrum.
Despite his best efforts, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) failed to convince Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) to join forces against Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi). Later, Nick expressed his desire to further investigate Ashland to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford); she not so subtly encouraged him to do just that.
Amanda happily accepted Devon’s proposal that she move into the penthouse. Upon returning to her hotel suite to pack, Amanda is greeted by a frantic Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) – she wants to discuss their mother’s condition. Amanda assured Imani that’s on top of the situation; both women agree that they’re grateful to be in each other’s lives.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) gaged Phyllis’s, and by extension, Nick’s interest in flying to Milan with him on the Jabot jet. The conversation turned to Jack’s declaration of love; Phyllis expressed likewise devotion…Tessa tried to temper Mariah’s enthusiasm for having another baby, but her lover pressed on – and even suggested that Tessa be the one to carry it.
Ashland met with his blackmailer – Jesse Gaines Jr. (Jamison Jones) – who expressed a desire to augment their “arrangement” in light of Ashland’s medical concern. Ashland is aghast when the offer (read: demand) on the table is $3 million – in cash; Ashland reluctantly agrees. Billy spies on the two men’s tense tête-à-tête.
Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) draws attention to the cyclical nature of Jack’s battle to both attain and sustain a romantic relationship. While slumbering, Jack’s subconscious forces him to face several characters from his past and present – including former lovers Sally, Phyllis, and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), mortal enemy Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and good pal Nick.
In the waking world, Jack contacts Nick, and admits to the contents of his and Phyllis’s conversation; Nick takes the conversation in stride; however, he is put out that Phyllis didn’t tell him herself.
Billy and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) work together to learn the name of the man the former spied deep in conversation with Ashland. Billy confronts Jesse at The Grand Phoenix but gleams little; Ashland claims that Jesse is his lawyer; Jesse threatens to give Billy exactly what he’s after if Ashland doesn’t cough up the cash…Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) overhears Ashland arguing with his accountant; Ashland spins a convincing cover story…Nick asks for Phyllis’s help in looking into Ashland’s past.
Victor gifted Victoria the deed to the Tuscan villa that will serve as her and Ashland’s wedding venue…Phyllis’s sleuthing seems to hit pay dirt…Jesse agreed to spill all he knows about Ashland to Billy – in exchange for $500,000…Much to Jesse’s surprise, he finds Victor outside his door!
