The Young and the Restless recaps for April 4 – April 8, 2022, feature corporate shenanigans of the highest order, a reunion that both parties could have lived without, and so much more.
Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) fumes over the news that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) has been appointed interim CEO of Newman/Locke; the men share a contentious cross… Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle) assures a rattled Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) that she has a plan in place to bring Ashland down.
Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) and Nate Hastings’s (Sean Dominic) romantic night in is a total bust. She ushers in Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) when they come a calling, he forgets to pick up the food, and an awkward toast made by Elena caps the evening.
Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) offers to take Connor to a Blackhawk’s game when neither Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) nor Adam proves able… Adam gauges Sally Spectra’s (Courtney Hope) interest in taking over the stewardship of Newman Media – provided he remains top dog at Newman/Locke.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) worries that Victor’s appointment of Adam to Victoria’s former position will send a clear message that he trusts one child over the other… Aware that Ashland is in want of a scapegoat, Victoria plants the idea that perhaps Adam is behind her husband’s recent woes.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) stuns Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) with the news that Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is very much alive and that she’s desperate to make inroads with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). Phyllis insists that Jack must not keep his son in the dark, then sets off with him for Diane’s abode.
During a confab with her siblings, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) expresses her reservations about where Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) is concerned. Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) suggests giving Allie the benefit of the doubt. Talk then turns to Jack and Phyllis’s supposedly platonic relationship.
Tensions between Diane, Phyllis, and Jack escalate to the point that the latter two have to excuse themselves. Over coffee, Phyllis reiterates her position – Jack should fill Kyle in on Diane’s status… Allie and Diane make nice.
Adam and Sally’s obvious thirst for power fails to impress Victor… Victoria and Ashland cancel their trip to Italy; Victoria calls a family meeting… Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) returns to active duty… Ashland makes quick work of planting evidence that will indicate Adam perpetuated the lie that Ashland didn’t have cancer.
The Newmans greenlight Victoria’s plan which will see Ashland frame Adam for his misdeeds. In recompense, Adam demands that he be retained as interim CEO of Newman/Locke for the foreseeable future. Victoria reluctantly agrees. Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) cautioned Adam against using the situation to his own advantage.
Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) likewise cautioned Billy against involving himself in Victoria’s struggle… Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) finds the perfect avenue for axing Ashland from Newman/Locke: a violation of the morals clause in his contract.
