On The Young and the Restless, Chance Chancellor told wife Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor that his therapist thinks it’s time for Chance to return to the Genoa City Police Force. Who cares that the last — and first — time he went on a stakeout he froze and risked getting his partner killed?

The Young and the Restless Polling

This is about Chance’s (Conner Floyd) mental health. If there is collateral damage among other people…well that’s just a possibility he (and his partner) will have to face. We, on the other hand, want to hear from you. We asked, is it too early for Chance to return to work? Here’s what nearly 3,000 believe.

Take Your Time

He’s not ready yet, 43% remind. Chance keeps having flashbacks to his past trauma. He can’t make connections with people, and he can’t articulate his feelings. That is not the correct frame of mind with which to enter into a dangerous job like police work. Chance may not care if someone gets hurt on his watch. But we do.

The Young and the Restless: The Normal Heart

Chance needs to get back to normal, 41% of the audience counters, and going back to work is as good of a start as any. If he can’t be the husband and father Abby (Melissa Ordway) is yearning for, the least he can do is be productive in some other way. Maybe the confidence from bringing in the bad guys will help Chance become a good guy on the home front again.

Get to Work

Only 16% are tired of coddling the loafer. Maybe Chance doesn’t need to work in order to make money, but he needs to do something productive. Sitting around, gazing at his navel, does not make a man attractive. And that’s really every soap character’s job. If a soap character isn’t sexy, then what purpose does he serve? And a lazy man just isn’t sexy.
