The Young and the Restless Recap: Corporate Wars Return

The Young and the Restless recap for April 6-10, 2020, features a canvas full of characters facing the inevitable, undeniable force known as change.

The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Change is inevitable. And sometimes, it can be a positive thing. Companies need refreshers, rebrandings, and fresh young faces to steer them in new directions. People need new opportunities to prove themselves, hone their skills, and learn new crafts.

But in the world of YR, change is anathema. The characters enjoy the status quo, thank you very much. And they certainly don’t enjoy being blackmailed out of their corporate office by their underhanded sibling.

Just ask Victoria Neman (Amelia Heinle), who found herself dethroned as Newman Enterprises CEO in favor of Adam (Mark Grossman), who threatened to go public with Alyssa’s (Maria DiDomenico) story. You know, the one that seems to indicate that Victor murdered her loan shark father back in the 1990s.

Kyle Vs. Theo

Or you can ask Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Theo (Tyler Johnson), who have each been challenged with coming up with a marketing strategy to explain Jabot’s impending rebranding. Goodbye influencers, hashtags, and accessories; Hello high fashion and an emphasis on the beauty products that put the once-great company on the map.

Oh, and a probable farewell to the man who doesn’t impress Jack (Peter Bergman) with his sales pitch. Theo’s sure that his cousin has the competition in the bag…and so is Kyle. After all, he has a secret weapon in his arsenal: Summer (Hunter King).

Probably the only person embracing the possibility of change is Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) – she who gives the sagest advice to all. Though she’s struggling to adjust to Dina’s (Marla Adams) sharp decline, she may have gained a lifeline in the form of Lily (Christel Khalil) and Billy’s (Jason Thompson) offer to head a serialized fiction division at Chancellor Communications.

YR Musings

Do you foresee Sharon’s (Sharon Case) upcoming lumpectomy proceeding without a hitch? Or might the doctor’s discover further issue?

What do you think? Post a comment!

Does the seemingly inevitable Amanda (Mishael Morgan)/Nate (Sean Dominic) romance get your seal of approval? If so, what smush name are we assigning?

Victor: “You’ve accused me of being a killer before…by having some…writer come up with a cockamamie story. It didn’t work then. Ain’t gonna work now.” Actually, it was less a story and more a full-blown diary that contained Victor’s “confession” to killing Walter Palin.

Palin had been a hitman who arranged the car accident that killed Victor’s wife, Sabrina Costelana. And not only did the scheme not work, but it also resulted in Adam’s imprisonment for forgery.

Chelsea: “With the exception of how he launched Dark Horse, Nick has never really had the stomach for the rougher side of the business world.” But boy did Dark Horse have a rough start. Nick gained investors and subsidiaries after publicly outing Victor’s poor health – news he acquired after hiring someone to hack into the Newman Enterprises servers.

Adam: “I know that you believe you’re Dad’s rightful heir.” Victoria: “Victor-ia.” Adam: “Yes, but I am the true ‘Victor.’ See what I did there” Victoria: “You chose to call yourself Adam. You insulted our father and his legacy.”

Ironically, Victoria was so named in honor of Kevin Bancroft’s grandmother; Kevin being the man everyone presumed to be Victoria’s father. As for Adam using his middle name….well that was because he felt it would be confusing to have two Victor Newmans working at Newman.

Did he just forget he could have been called Victor Junior? The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
