Young and the Restless Pass-Fail: Was Victor Newman Testing Sally?

Victor Newman thinks he can buy anything on The Young and the Restless. So why not his newest granddaughter? Victor offered Sally as much money as she wants…as long as she leaves Genoa City. And gets out of both of his sons’ lives. And leaves her daughter behind. Was he being sincere…or was he just testing Sally’s commitment?

Victor Newman: A Young and the Restless Wish List

It’s rare, but 5% are wondering if maybe Victor (Eric Braeden) didn’t know what he wanted when he approached Sally (Courtney Hope). He just threw out a test balloon and waited to see what would happen. Maybe Sally would shrug and say, sure, and Victor would be back on diaper duty. Or maybe she would put up a valiant fight which would convince Victor she really did love Nick (Joshua Morrow)…or Adam (Mark Grossman). Maybe she’d impress him. Maybe she’d give in to him. Maybe it was a test for both of them.

First Inning

Of course, Victor was testing her, 43% insist. And this was only a pop quiz. The final exam isn’t near ready. Victor needs to control everyone around him. And the best way to control them is to find out what they want, what makes them tick, and what they need. Victor was feeling Sally out so he can come back even harder next time. OK, so her career isn’t more important to her than her daughter. But how far will she go to protect her little girl? Victor will figure it out. And Victor will exploit it to the hilt. It’s his duty as a loving grandfather, after all.

Victor Newman: Just Go

But a winning 52% are pretty sure that Victor really wanted Sally to leave town…He believes he can buy anyone. So why not start by throwing out a figure and seeing what happens? He can always raise his bid. He’s very rich, you know.
